Please explain exactly what the problem is. Do you get a message saying "press F1 to continue"?

    What is the motherboard model?

F1 for IBM is telling you there is no operating system.
press F1 to install.
change the internal battery, you may need to rest the BIOS, generally it will find all the devices.

Just guessing, but I'd system your CMOS battery needs to be replaced. Open the computer side panel and search the motherboard for a small, round silver batter about the size of a nickel. Use your fingernails to push the silver click to one side and take out the battery. Buy a new one from Wal-Mart and put it in with the smooth side up then re-enter the CMOS setup information and the problem should be solved.

What is the problem when uyou switch on the IBM

You probably need to replace the BIOS battery. This battery is small and on the inside of the laptop connected to the motherboard. It stores the BIOS settings, date and time. If this battery becomes worn out then it will cause your issue. First try and press F1. Navigate to the last tab and select to restore defaults, then save and exit. If the computer boots up fine but the next time you use it the same message appears then you need a new BIOS battery. Alternatively your HDD may be damaged if it cannot find a boot device. Check your HDD is recognised on the boot menu by pressing F12, select it and press enter and your OS should boot. Hope this helps,

Access IBM buttom does not function

this will occur if you have installed a clean copy of windows i.e not the one supplied by IBM and/or you have uninstalled the access IBM software (or it isn't installed in the first place) . You can get the access ibm software at the manufacturers website. The ACCESS IBM button will not function during boot up if you have removed the access ibm rescue and recovery partition. It can also be activated/deactivated from the BIOS. ( Press F11 or F1 0 during boot up )
