If you are out of warrenty you can open the box and remove the rom drive. Take the top and the tray out of the drive. Push the assembly that the drive attaches to shut and notice to the right side of the drive there is a peice of white plastic that engades a switch. It will probably fall just short of engageing the swith so take a small rubber bumper and trim it down just small enough to fit on the end of the plastic peice. you can use any thing you can to stick on there and fill the gap. you can hook up the drive and test it with out putting the whole box back together. This makes it easy to tweak it if need be. Good luck and I hope this helps you out!!

Check there is nothing obstructing the drive. Are you using an aftermarket faceplate? If so, take it off and try opening and closing the disc tray. If the problem persists, it's likely you'll have to get in touch with Microsoft for a repair.

I have 3 red light on front of the console

Have no fear, superman is here, lol, there are 2 ways you can go about this, you have a temporary fix and there is a permanent fix, sometimes the temporary fix is more permanent than temporary, well if you dont want to open the console up then you have the option of wrapping it in a very thick towel, make sure no air gets in or out, put it on and wait ten to fifteen minutes, after ten to fifteen minutes unplug it from the wall and make sure you dont touch the console in any way, wait 30 minutes for it to cool a bit and then try playing it, it should work, but note this is temporary.A more permanent fix is to open the console up completely and and bend the xclamps underneath as well as replace some pads under the board and if possible replace the thermal paste too, maybe increase the fan speed too, there are good tutorials on this on youtube, if you dont get any post a thread here

its basically because of overheating so you have to make sure you have enough free moving air around the xbox360 so dont put it in an enclosed shelf when playing it, Hope this helps...

Same thing but with noise

This is more than likely your laser that is dead or dying and its possibly a samsung or hitatchi drive, be
careful when buying a new laser because there is a lot of dodgy ones around at the minute which can damage
your machine or at the very least will be inferior and not last long.

It could also be the logic board or the drive belt too, if the logic board is faulty no matter how many lasers
you try it will do the same, the fix is to replace the logic board.

if its the drive belt well this is very easy to try and is what id try first, open your 360 tray and look
inside the 360 you should be able to see the drive belt, make sure its attached properly and then take this
out. replace it with a new one and see if this recifies your problems.

SOMETIMES if a drive belt is stretched it will not close properly and then a fault like yours will occur. its
all a matter of eliminations. Drive belts can be found on ebay.

Games wont play. Problems with Disk player

If you don't have the tools to open your 360 go to best buy or an office supply store and get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of the dvd drive. If that doesn't work then the lens needs to be cleaned with a q-tip and alcohol. This has worked for me on numerous occasions.

Games wont play. Problems with Disk player

it might be the disk drive lens just inst reading. if you still have warrenty with microsoft call and tell them whats wrong. if not then it will be cheaper if you buy a new disk drive for your xbox 360 and have a game repair shop replace it or just take it to the game repair shop and they can tell you whats wrong for sure. but call microsoft first you have 3 year warrenty with microsoft depending around what time you purchesed your system.

Unplayable Disk Error / Loud Noises

I don't know how deep you want to dive into fixing this problem, but it will probably be much easier to just pay Microsoft to fix it for you. you will probably need to start off with finding an aftermarket replacement drive. Once you have that, you will have a glorified DVD player unless you can get your PC and 360 talking to each other, and access your 360's dvd settings in the bios, and get a known good unlock code for the new drive....

Are sure that you are out of warranty? I called MS recently only to find out that my warranty had been extended by about 18 months without my knowledge. Hope this helps.

Xbox 360 disk drive does not close

Hi there. There is a solution out there, called the 'rubberband mod'. By tieing a rubberband to the rail on which the laser slides, you restrict the movement of the laser, and force it to stay within a readable range. It is essentially a bumper. Here's a link with a video that gives all the info on it; http://www.360mods.net/News/article/sid=71.html Hope that helps ! cheebster.
