Question about Gateway M305CRV LCD VIDEO CABLE DDOA5LLC004 CD-ROM Drive

1 Answer

I am attempting to help repair a friends notebook pc. A few days ago she turned it off and the next morning when she tried to restart it the only screen displayed states that one of the main OS files is either missing or corrupt and to load the OS CD and press R to repair. We've tried this repeatedly, and each time the only thing that happens, is immediately after it restarts, it displays that same screen again. Now, I've put the OS disc in again and pressed F8, then pressed R for repair, but I am now stuck on the Recovery Console screen, asking me which Windows installation I would like to log onto...in parenthesis it states to cancel, press ENTER. So I pressed 1, to select "1: C:\WINDOWS" but nothing happened after simply pressing 1, so then I pressed enter after pressing 1 and then the following is displayed, "C:\WINDOWS>" without a blinking cursor behind it and I can hear that the disc I put in is NOT running. Can you please tell me the next few steps that I need to do in order to finish the OS repair?

First are you using the recovery cd(s) or a copy of xp.... if a copy ... skip by the recovery console and keep going as tho you are installing a new copy of xp... when you get to the point where it shows your drive... you will see the option to repair... now is the time to repair it....

Jay, Try placing your MacBook on a bed of un-cooked rice for several days that should pull any moisture out of your lap-top. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN IT ON. If you already have it may too late.

if no sing of power when you plug in i would check AC adapter if is there voltage on it,

adapter plug could be interrupt conection (if yes you should change it)
- try to run it without battery
if it not battery or adapter problem i would go to restart BIOS setting to default, (when u finnally run computer) press F2 or esc when u turning on computer it will turn u to bios.

Sounds like you are having a PCM problem. The keep alive memory is internally located in the PCM. With all the other problems you are having, this is the most likely cause.
