you didn't say what computer you are using, but unless you remember the password, and you have only the one account or user, you cannot add a new user. If you have access to the Administrator account, you can change the password.
To solve this problem, all you have to do is download and burn a bootable CD and use that CD to start your computer. Boot CD's like Hiren's and Ultimate Boot CD for Windows will have Password Reset tools that you can use to reset your password.
hi u can re install ur operating system using windows xp cd... format only the C drive alone.. so that ur datas contained in other drive does not get deleted... when u re start the system for next time it wont ask for a ID and PASSWORD...
If you can remember the administrator account password, then you can login with it in safe mode (F8 at system startup). Then, go to "My Computer, Documents and Settings" and look at the profiles. One of those profiles will be your username.

There is no need to remember your password. Easy way is use your browser to do that. Eg: Firefox Steps: 1. open the firefox. 2. Goto Tools->options->Security. Enable or put a check mark on "Remember passwords for sites". 3. Click ok.
NOTE: First time when you are entering your password, browser will ask whether to remember the password. CLick OK.From next time onwards you dont have to remember that.
