PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 and SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148A

Error on both:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39).

I tried updating, rolling back, uninstalling-check for new hardware, system restore to when it did work... tna. 

Computer is about 2 years old.  I am the only user.  Mainly used for internet and music downloads to ipod.  I don't burn cd's or dvd's.  I watch an occasional movie.
