Message -Lens Cap text appearing

Hi Anyone who can help?

I have this model camcorder and when trying to record with the lens cap off, the LCD display says the cap is on and can not record vision only sound.

Hi There, You probably have a ccd problem. Up to October of 2007, JVC was replacing the ccd under warranty as they had a defective batch, ( all of them ). You could try to take to a jvc service depot and ask if warranty will still cover the repair. Are you in the USA or Canada? I can help you if in CDA.

LENS CAP my camera is JVC, so When I'm online writing comes LENS CAP

Hi,
Lens Cap message appears due to failure of ccd imager chip in camcorder and ccd imager chip need to be replaced to solve this issue.
Local camera repair shop will replace ccd imager chip because camera will take apart and soldering work is required.
Hope this will help.

Lens Cap Error

You have a defective CCD imager - the part of the lens that receives the image. Will need to be replaced.

JVC GR-X5e camcorder, lens cap message. Does not show a picture.

It shows all menus, numbers and graphics on LCD, but seems like there's no picture coming through the lens. In both modes, video and still. It seems like it can not see anything as if the lens cap was on all the time.

Could this be a problem with sensor.. CCDs? Lens? Something else?

Display is black even after removing the lens cap

See my post of before. I just knocked the camera on the floor by mistake and it miraculously started working again after years. Shows it must be mechanical and not related to software.

Lens cap still on

Hi, this sounds like CCD chip fault.

JVC will repair this for free if your camcorder was sold between 2002 - 2004 as the CCD chips were faulty before they were fitted into the cameras.

go to them main JVC site and click "support" for details, offer runs until 31/12/08

there is a repir thing with certain models see below. CCD Failure/Lens Cap Warning Error JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, the following models may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display “LENS CAP” even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at a JVC Authorised Service Centre even if the unit is outside warranty.
Please call our Consumer Support Department on 0870-330-5000 to obtain your free repair. We apologise for any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding and support.
Please note that this offer expires on 30th June 2009 and is applicable only to failure of the CCD image sensor.
