Question about Sansui 27" TV

1 Answer

I own a Sansui model 2798 27" TV. I have been using it just for watching videos. I would like to program it to pick up the local television stations, but I lost my instruction book and my attempts to get my TV to do the search for the local stations have not been unsuccessful. Please instruct as to how I can get my TV to do the search for the local television stations. If I able to do this, I will probably buy another Sansui to replace my analog TV. If not, I will not buy another Sansui TV.

I HAVE SOME NEW SANSUI TVS WITCH ARE SANSUI SLED1953 SO I WANTED TO SET THEM UP FOR WATCHING ALL LOCAL CHANNELS SO THERE ARE ANY LOCAL CHANNEL FOUND.SPECIALLY I CAN NOT WATCH AND VIEW LOCAL CHANNELS.T

It sounds that the main system control memory IC is faulty. Replace it and check. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic /Timeslide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name / model number / IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

Can not tune tv since change over

The KV-32FS100 only has an analog tuner (NTSC). Unless there is a low-power analog station still broadcasting in your area, you will not be able to watch OTA stations. (I've got one in my area that barely comes in.) If your local cable still sends an analog signal, you won't need a set top box to watch that subscribed service.

Otherwise, you need a set top box to watch TV. A digital to analog converter (the boxes that were available with the government coupon before the switch over) will give you over the air stations. The basic models only provide SD output; there are a few HD models available. Otherwise, you can use a satellite reciever, cable box (for digital cable service), or something like the Boxee or Sling with tuner. (There are a few different models of the Boxee; one added a tuner with a USB dongle. The newest model of the Boxee has the ATSC tuner built in.)

Note: OTA digital signal quality is either a strong enough signal for the tuner or no signal will be present. You need to point the antenna in the correct direction to receive the signal from your local transmitters. The type of antenna and its placement will also change the number of watchable channels. You can use antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to get more information. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but gives a conservative list of stations. If the signal is split to several devices, you may need an amplifier to get a watchable signal. (Sometimes amplifiers fail and you won't receive any stations, so test without the splitter or amplifier by using a direct cable to one TV.)

I hope this helps.

Do I need a digtal converter box to pick up local stations via antenna?

Some local broadcasting will still be in analog but this is just jor simple programming such as college stations. To get local programming such as NBC,ABC,CBS etc. you will need to get a converter since the government has mandated all broadcast be in digital to free up air space.

Note that it may be a case by case basis for some smaller areas.

Remote

You can try remotes.com or 1800Remotes. There are several other places that specialize in original remotes. Universal remotes can be found at most local stores where you can purchase a television. The can be programmed for use on your television. If you have the original packing with the remote control part # I might be able to help you more. Good luck.

You'll most likely need a Sansui remote made to work with your specific model TV. I have similar problems with my Toshiba TV. Check eBay.
