Question about HP Photosmart C7280 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Paper feed jams

Automatic paper feed keeps jamming so I can't fax, scan or make copies of multiple pages. Help please!!! C7280 is All-in-One Inkjet - Mine doesn't seem to want to "grab" on the left side (facing front) Have looked in opened back and see nothing unusual or broken. Paper tray seems to be all the way in, so why this constant tearing and crumbling of the paper I have to grab from around the rollers in the back? It seems to be hitting something on the top as it tries to start to print and continue forward. Help!

    Exactly same problem and symptoms.

While feeling around in the back of the printer after the duplex cartridge was removed, I noticed that I could grab a part at the end of the paper tray with one of my fingers and it would move about 1/4" toward the back of printer. It seemed like that piece had slid forward, out of place, and I put it back where it should have been. The paper was then a little closer to the feeder wheels. After that, the paper fed properly, no more jams. I don't know why I couldn't do the same thing from the front with the tray, but no matter how carefully I shoved the paper tray, it never did move that part that I moved with my finger. Been working for 10 days!!!

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Does it say clear jam immediatly or does it start to run then declare a jam?
If it starts then tells you to clear a jam and no paper is in the machine, your feed rollers are shot. Smooth like trying to drive a car on ice.
If it says that all the time, no attempt to feed then you have a sensor either dirty, knocked out of place or something stuck on a sensor.
Either in the paper path or in the scanner.
