Thanks for the info. Ive been trying to pry it apart but it still feel like there is something holding it together somewhere and for the life of me can not figure out where. I need to get to the caps on the invert board to check though. Should I be pulling off the back or the LCD bezzle first?

Long story short: now I know why the owner of our shop doesnt want to work on these. Ok, So here is where I am at: I have succesfully broken just about every retaining tab I can see on this thing trying to pry it apart. I can prety much stick a screw driver anywhere along the edge and pry it open easily. Looking from the back, to the right of the tuner, there appears to be a screw down in there that holds the back on, so we flip the thing over and start prying again at the front bezzel and it lifts to a degre but feels like something esle is holding it in place. I still cant get the back off this thing with out causing sever damage which at this point would be very theraputic. >:(

I found a spot that looks like it was ultimatly just from the injection molding. I drilled it out anyway but nothing there. The spot I do see seems like you would have to go through the LCD pannel to remove it (Screw would be secured from the opposite side. Did you ever actually get the back off it before you gave up?

  • pproctor Jan 09, 2009

Ok, it appears you were right. Im going to make a write up of this when I get a chance, If anyone else has a problem in the mean time, here is the issue: The front bezzle is being held in place with A LOT of glue. I did in fact bust the bezzle trying to get it off but luckily thats why they created super glue.

With the amount of effort Ive put into it they better approve the estimate. Just not so sure what to do about the now broken bezel, which has been ingeniously discontinued by the manufacturer

Once you take out the retaining screws it basically snaps together and apart. Start at the bottom and work towards the buttons on the side first. I did not get it all the way apart though before someone suggested to try a different power supply first. I happened to have one with exact specifications that went to an old laptop. Low and behold, it clicked on and has worked since. At first we unplugged it after we used it but now it has been plugged in for a few weeks and no problems at all. Hope this helps.

It does do a little scaring on the plastic but I started on the sides. I used to work with eyeglasses and I used my little...scratch that, I used a tiny flat head that wedged open the case, if you get level with the opening you will see there are locks that hold it together. You have to pop those locks by pushing in on the tab. Like I said earlier I was going to do the same thing, till I tried a different power supply, which I read here that someone else suggested.

Also I wanted to add just for fun, when my brother-in-law, thought that the TV was broke, he left the remote in the floor and when he was walking through he kicked in between his foot and exercise machine and broke it in-half, yes I said in-half!! It took six generic remotes to find one that would work, so if it comes up that yours not repairable, hold on to the remote.

I know that is the way it was for me, If I remember correctly check the back right above the tuner and there is a hidden screw through the plastic. Try that.

  • romosapien Jan 09, 2009

yes i did, it made some loud pops and cracks but it did come off. The weird thing was that it just snapped back together easier than it came apart. Now mind you I did have several of those little tabs that came out of it and the edges were jagged but it did come apart and go back together. I was like you very determined to get it apart, once I did, I was searching on line and found the power supply answer and tried it.

I once thought about using a heat gun to work the glue soft but then goto thinking about if the plastic would have held up to the heat. So you got it open, hope it is worth the price of the caps, huh? Well keep me posted on your progress, please.

My girlfriend moved in and lost power cord and remote for the lct2070 model. She got this a a gift and we don't kno where to get one. (Van gullivan/Baltimore maryland)

The power cord is easy, radio shack or similar.
The remote is more of a problem, you could try a learning remote or see if there is one on ebay or akai

I recently bought a used LCT2060 that had no remote. I figured my comcast cable remote would work without a problem but it didn't. So 3 universal remotes later I found my solution...a radio shack2_bing.gif universal gamer remote. It controls up to 5 components plus your xbox360, playstation and pc. The price on sale was a mere 12.97, not bad if you ask me. Hope this helped. The code that worked for the Akai2_bing.gif was 11676. Take care...
