Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Frigidaire Gallery front loading dryer does not produce heat any more. It is model number FSG747GES1 and was purchased in March 1998. I don't know if it needs a new heating element or a vent cleaning.

Check to make sure you have 220V. Make sure you have no blockage of air flow (lit glogged up). Unplug dryer, Check your thermostats. If they are good check your heating element and take it out and visually inspect it.

You can at least check to make sure it is not clogged up. Do you clean the lint tray? Make sure the line that blows the hot air out is not clogged up. You can at least do that. If it is blowing out more than likely that is not it. Just to get a repair man to the house is 100.00. (at least in Northern Va). A new heating element will run between 80.00 and 140.00 just for the part if that is it. A thermostat around 40.00.

Replace bearing in a GE SXH47eg1WW dryer

The bearing is the plastic which holds the front glides. It just snaps in place and is easy to remove using flat blade screw driver. The bearing has 3 or four glides which are purchased separately. The rear of the dryer also has a bearing which is plastic part number WE3x75 on the old models, newer models use a different number.

Hi Robert Burch - From what you have described the unit could possibly have a communication problem with the control panel. However, if the unit is not producing any heat please have a professional diagnose the heating element and the blower assembly as well. Either, or, could be faulty at this time. This is not a typical DIY job so please consult a professional.

Frigidaire Gallery Gas Dryer model fsg747ges1 spins and stops. will not restart until motor cools. happens on all temp settings. What's up? Where can I find a service manual, so I can see how tricky...

Your service manual can be bought from this site => http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Service-Manual/948565
I can't give you a free one unfortunately due to copyright
The motor probably is shorted and so needs to be replaced which is why it doesn't work until cool. Let me know how this works out for you.

My Frigidaire gas dryer isn't hot. Otherwise it runs fine.

it could be either your ignitor(glow coil) flame sensor control, or a defective thermal switch telling dryer its at temp and shutting off gas supply before it even fires initially

No heat - long time to dry clothes.

Hi, Is this an electric dryer? The model# shows that is it. If it is gas, you need to change the coils on the top of the gas valve. This is a very common problem with the newer gas dryers. We have them for $27.95. Our # is 1 866 798-4375 Make sure and check the venting to the ouside and make sre that it is clean and has no kinks.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks

Dryer not heating

If it runs then the fuse is not blown so it is most likely a broken element. Start here:
5a3cea6.jpgTIP: you do not need to spend 90 bucks on a heater pan and element you can get a restring kit for 1/3rd the price, Just off the top of my head I would say you need part number 5300622032 restring kit. No more than 25 bucks.

Dryer not heating

  • There are two house circuits/fuses in an electric dryer's circuit.
If one of them is tripped/blown, the drum may turn, but the heater will not operate. Reset the circuit breaker or replace the house fuse.
  • Outlet wired incorrectly.
Have a qualified electrician verify that the supply voltage is correct.
  • Gas supply valve to a gas dryer is not open.
Open the gas supply valve. See Installation Instructions for details.
  • LP gas supply tank is empty or there has been a utility interruption of natural gas.
Refill or replace the LP tank. Call your natural gas utility company.
  • Dryer does not have enough air supply to support the gas burner.
The dryer needs space around it for proper ventilation. Do not stack or place laundry or throw rugs against the front or back of the dryer. See Installation Instructions for details about installing a dryer in a closet or alcove.
  • Incorrect cycle or temperature has been selected.
If the Air Fluff cycle or temperature is selected, the dryer will tumble without heat. Each cycle ends with a Cool Down period during which the load tumbles without heat. Check the location of the indicator on the Cycle Selector knob.

Fridgidaire FGRB5700DS0 Only Certain Modes Produce Heat

The control thermostat has failed. It's mounted to the plastic air duct that your lint trap slides into. You'll have to unplug the unit and remove the front panel to get to it. The part number is #131298400 and is available at a local appliance parts retailer. Cost is about $32.00.
