Thanks, Doogie, but my problem was that I couldn't make out the paths of the broken belts. I have been able to figure that, so the problem is now solved. Thanks again. -- JP

Use some tape to put the belt back together. Use two pencils to find the diameter of the belt(s). Go to www.mcmelectronics.com type in belt as the key word and find the belt(s) you need. Good luck. Doogie

How do I record a TV show on the VHS?

Betty,

It hard to answer your question because the # you gave for the vcr is actually the # for the remote. In order for me to tell you how to hook it up, I need the model # on the front of the vcr itself. The remote operates several different vcrs. After you give me the real #, I can check if it can record tv shows on it's own or perhaps you might need a cable box too.

Cassette loads and won't play. Cassette won't eject, or if it does the tape itself hangs inside the VCR. The cassette reels do not turn anthough the head does. I believe the problem lies with the belt...

Hello
There si one belt connected to its capstan motor to reel drive gear assembly to reel up the tape. If this belt has either loose or broken, the fault you described here will occur. To change the belt, you have to buy one new with same diamentions. To get it, you must ahve the damaged belt in hand as sample. Just look at its bottom side, and is there any extra sid screwed into, which can be removed to see and take the belt away from the mechanis. There will be one, with every Toshiba VCR. If so, open it by unscrewing the screws, take out the belt, buy a new one and replace it.
Before doing this, make sure that the capstan motor is rotating or not. Just unplug the VCR from power socket, and replug it again. If capstan motor try to rotate even a single turn, it means that it is OK. Replacing the belt should solve your problem.
If you want anymore asistance, feel free to get me through Fixya. OK.

I have a Toshiba VCR w522 and would like to record a program previously recorded from a DVR. Is it possible?

If the vcr has two scarts connect the DVR player to one and select that imput. Watch the program using the the other scart connected to the TV. Press record on the vcr and then start the DVR player going. If it doesn't have two scarts use the front panel jacks to connect the DVR player.
The only time you won't be able to record a program is if somekind of anti-copy system is employed.

Can;t record on VCR since Comcast went Digital

I have Dish Network and a DVR and I do not know what I would do without it. I can record 2 shows at once and watch to 2 recorded programs while recording two shows. But getting to your problem... It sounds like the vcr cannot process the digital signal. You could try hooking up the vcr to the rca inputs from the cable box but you will only be able to record whatever channel the cable box is on. Any way you hook them up the programming of the vcr to change channels at different times for different programs probably won't work now. It sounds like Direct TV with two DVRs will solve your recording needs.

My VCR plays cassets perfectly, but recently I am facing recording problem. I am unable to record, I am seeing recording caption on my screen. But it is not recording.

Well I think that the the machines mechanical piece that allows you to record is broken then and needs to be fixed so we perfer DVD players and dvd disc;s instead they are better at recording and have less problems too.

Toshiba Model: SD-V295 DVD/VCR Combo Setup for TV recording

The proper hookup is antenna or cable into the VCR RF/antenna input, then VCR RF/antenna output to the TV RF input. The hookup you describe means no signal is getting to the VCR.

With some TVs, there can be Video and audio output jacks which can be hooked to the video and audio jacks of the VCR. However this would likely mean you could only record the channel being watched, and, the TV would have to be on.
