Ice dispenser paddle hard to push

We have a stainless Frigidaire side by side, 3 years old. The paddle that releases ice from the door is suddenly very hard to push. Something has changed. I can push it and get ice--my kids have to struggle a bit. I'm mainly concerned about that paddle breaking before the problem gets fixed. Any ideas??

I know it's been a whle, but I recently had hensame problem. Unable to find an answer I decided to pull it apart. After removing the water/ice dispenser panel I noticed there was a spring loaded rod which held the ice flap in position. The rod had worked itself loose from one end and was causing the problem. I realigned the rod with the hole in the bracket and gently tapped it back into place. After re installing the panel everything was back to normal. You can find some decent tear down videos on Youtube explaining the panel removal. Hope this helps if anyone else runs into this problem.

This is a QD0452A ice maker it will not cycle properly, water will not shut off, have to watch cycle and manually shut off water ,let ice dump, then turn water back on.

It can be a variety of problems. The door bin switch should turn off the unit when it senses that the door is open (bin full of ice). It is a curtain that opens out to release the ice.
Next it could be the water inlet solenoid, it energizes to allow water in for the ice making process. If it stays constantly on then that would be your problem.
Look at the control board light indicators and you'll know what cycle it is on. These parts are energized and seek help if needed.

Black ice

My advice throw the dirty ice away then monitor. It could be residue from old filter or even new. This happens sometimes and usually clears it self.

ULine CLR2160S00 was making ice then the icemaking started to slow then none at all had refrigerant replaced last year and everything else seems to be working fine,,, just no ice

Does the ice maker get water? Could the fill line be blocked? I found on my freezer ice had formed at the end of the tube and once I removed the ice it has worked fine since.

KUIC15PLTS ice maker keeps making Ice even though it is FULL

The high level sensor can get iced up and stop working. using a hare dryer carefully heat the area that the lensing arm goes into or snap off the front cover of the ice maker and blow warm air in there. raise and loser the arm at the same time. a couple of minutes should do it.

Kitchenaid stand alone ice maker not producing ice. Water fills into the resevoir but do not see water flowing on to the ice pan. water drains from the tub fine when called for and fills back up. Was...

most likely the recirculating pump is jammed or has failed... ive been in service industry for 18 years and actually have a kitchen aid stainless steel ice machine myself.... if you get into unit and remove the resorvoir and white plastic shield around pump which is located on right side normally.. then there is 3 1/4 inch screws to remove from the pump and the water line usually attached on side of pump plate just unsnap... unplug the molex plug and pull out... you can check impellar for scaling and or build up turn with hand.. if you think you free it up clean real well and test with a power cord while out. you will have to rig something to the molex plug and plug into a 110 outlet and test... if it is bad get you a new one and replace.... this is a common problem ...good luck to you

Manitowoc Ice machine only makes 2/3 bin of Ice and shuts off

The unit shuts off based on the magnetic reed switch in the plastic curtain on the front of the evaporator. If the ice is not falling as one single sheet with about 1/4"-3/8" of a bridge conecting all of the cubes then the ice is too thin. When the ice falls (in a single sheet of ice) if there is enough ice in the bin to hold that ice up and keep the curtain open the unit shuts down. A full bin may only be what appears to be 2/3 or 3/4 of a bin full because the ice sheet is propped up behind the curtain. If the ice sheet is too thin and does not fall as a single sheet more often than not a single cube or a piece of a cube can get caught between the curtain and the evaporator plate. This can shut the unit down for several hours until that piece melts and the curtain closes again.

I have a model qd0452a manitowoc and it will not stop making ice

Very unusual for one of these to not stop. There is a magnetic proximity switch located on the bottom right side of the water curtain that serves to both cancel a harvest/drop and to shut the unit down on a full bin. When a drop occurs the control board sees a open and then close of the switch and restarts a freeze mode. If the ice drops and the bin is full the curtain is blocked by the ice behind it from closing again and the unit shuts down on a full bin indication. If the curtain does not open and close after 3 hours it would lock the unit out. Therefore I assume that the switch and the board are working. Most likely you either have the unit on a non-Manitowoc bin or are missing a deflector plate in the Manitowoc bin and the ice is falling out of a service door.
