Question about Sunbeam 738-400 Heater

Open Question

Sunbeam convection heater stopped working

It has worked fine for 1 and a half months. I don't have the model # with me at the present time: however the model has a timer, several temperature settings (65, 70, 75, 80, 85), and it has an economy setting if we leave it on for extended periods. It is basically brand new. When it quit working, I plugged it in about 30 minutes later and it came on for about 30 seconds and then stopped working agaiin. It cost us about 50 dollars from Lowes and we don't have the receipt anymore (we kept it for about a month, then my wife threw it away). It is perfect for how we use it, but I am reluctant to buy another Sunbeam product. Can you give some advice? Signed, Tom

did this heater get knock over, sometimes the safety switch gets hung up inside, cheap bi-metal switchs that cycle the heating element burn, power supply, bad plug or recepticle, heck put a high amp relay in and a wall thermostat,it'll probably say made in china on the back

Have you tested the receptacle that the heater is/was plugged into, to make sure it's working and a circuit breaker hasn't been tripped?

If not, plug a lamp into the receptacle to see if it works. If it doesn't, check your home's circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker. If you find one, make sure there's nothing still plugged into the offending receptacle and reset the breaker. Then, plug the heater in and turn it on. Does it trip the breaker again? If it does, there's some type of short in the electrical system of the heater. If it doesn't trip the breaker, but still doesn't work, return it to the place of purchase for a replacement. However, you must have your Proof of Purchase Receipt to do this.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

Can't you exchange it at the store where you bought it and get a different one? It certainly shouldn't stop working after only two months of use.

I don;t think there is any repair that is possible and you will need to replace your mattress pad. I would recommend you contact sunbeam directly at sunbeam.com and see if this model has a lifetime guarentee.I tried but they wanted to know how old it was and other info that I could not provide.
If you have had this good of service from their product then I would let them know and maybe they will work with you.
I have had good results contacting companies and praising their products and it don't cost much to try. Thank you

I have a Sunbeam Queen washable electric Blanket dual control model BL445D. One of the detachable controls is not working and I would like to buy a replacement one? can you tell me where I can find one...

Hi. You can locate a Sunbeam Service Centre via http://www.sunbeam.com.au/Pages/Support/Repairers.aspx

You're looking at $64.00 recommended retail.

BTW have you checked that it's not the blanket? Swap the controls over, if the problem follows the control it's the control. If the problem stays on the same side of the blanket, it's the blanket.

Also note Sunbeam has a 3 year warranty on electric blankets. If Date Of Purchase is less than 3 years ago call 1800025059 option 1 to speak to their Customer Service,
