SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Unable to format sd card. Keeps saying protected when it's not.

1) Check to make sure the SD card itself does not have the protect switch in Locked position. There is a physical locator as you had with floppy disks to prevent erasure.

If they are not locked, the tab switch that contacts the tab when it is not locked may be dirty, bent or broken. A visual check in the slot can tell you if there is damage.

My memory card keeps saying it is in write protection and I keep flipping the switch on the side but it doesn't work, how do I fix it?

The write protection is initiated by your camera, not the lock switch on the side of the card. Check your manual for the procedure to cancel write protection.

DigiGr8 DV182 - I have inserted batteries and a 4GB SDcard but when I switch it on, the screen just says "Welcome" and does nothing else. Without the SD card it looks like to will work but says "No Card"...

The problem is with the 4 GB smart card you are using. You need to exchange it for a 2 GB smart card and that is all this little camcorder can handle. Hope this helps.
