Hi. I am not surprised that you are having problems with your wireless keyboard not working. I bought an IQ770a 14 months ago. The keyboard (or should I say Keyboards) have never worked properly.

First they told to change the batteries which didn't work.

Then they sent me another wireless keyboard and mouse. This also missed letters and doubled letters.

Then they sent me a plug in keyboard that didn't fit any port on the machine.

Then they sent me a connecter. This keyboard worked for a while.

Then they sent me a wire less keyboard with a USB stick. This worked for about 9 months and totally stopped working.

I got the old lpugin one out. This worked for 2 weeks and then was dead sometimes and worked sometimes.

My computer was sent in for repair and I was told that it was my fault for using a keyboard with a USB stick as the internal thing would work if I didn't have a USB one interferring with the signal!!!. They sent my computer bback with the same keyboard and the USB stick wrapped in paper and a not not to use it.

Then they supposedly replaced the thing in the computer that communicates witth the wireless key board.

The problem is that when a tech turns it on and types a couple of words, it works. The longer you type the more missing or doubled letters you get.

I went back aand said that the same problem was happening.

HP rang to say they were sending me another keyboard!!!! and that it would all be fixed. I exploded! I don't want another keyboard. I don't want something replaced inside it. I WANT A NEW COMPUTER THAT WORKS.

I have spent hours and hours since I bought this ABSOLUTELY USELESS PIECE OF **bleep**!! and still do not have a solution.

Neither Domayne, HP or Extended Warranty have helped. There is a "No Lemon" clause in the Extended Warranty contract. However is is very hard to get them to recognise a LEMON. You have to have that same problem 3 times. BUT they don't count any of the times the problem occurred under the HP warranty. NOW they are saying that because it is a fault with the model, it can't be covered under extended warranty!

Looks like this is a wireless keyboard? If so there is usually a connect button on the bottom of the keyboard and/or on the unit itself. You may have just lost the keyboard to wireless receiver connection.

From the User Guide at...

The wireless keyboard and mouse are pre-synchronized, for your convenience, to work with your

HP TouchSmart PC. The keyboard and mouse should work immediately after you pull the battery tabs to

activate the preinstalled batteries, and then turn on the mouse (A).

You may need to manually synchronize the wireless keyboard or mouse if they are not functioning.

To synchronize them:

Make sure the keyboard and mouse are next to the HP TouchSmart PC, within 30 cm (1 foot) and

away from interference from other devices.

Keyboard: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the keyboard (B) for five seconds. The blue

activity LED on the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchronization command has been received

and turns off when synchronization is complete.

Mouse: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse (C) for five seconds. The blue activity

LED on the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchronization command has been received and

turns off when synchronization is complete.

If this does not work, remove and then re-insert the wireless keyboard and mouse receiver from the back of
the computer and then synchronize the keyboard and mouse again.

Power button stuck pushed in

You're going to have to go, where no man has gone before

No not that bad just kidding.

Your body carries Static electricity.
An All-In-One desktop computer is set up like a laptop.

Once you remove the outside covers, the Static sensitive hardware components inside, are exposed.
You CANNOT just touch any metal frame, as you would for a regular desktop computer, and relieve your body of Static.

This means you need to wear an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source.

This is an example of an ESD wrist strap,

I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty desktop computer case.
(I feel an Anti-Static mat is unwarranted)

You can set a large metal serving tray (Unpainted), on the table you're working on, and connect to it.
Or perhaps a large metal knickknack (Unpainted)

Information on how to remove the two main covers;
Vertical Cover
Horizontal Cover

Disassembly video,

Just from a quick search for the Power Button Board and cable,

(The Power On Button assembly presses against the Power On switch.
The Power On switch is what should be bad. Of course you will know once you get to it.
The Power On switch is part of the above assembly)

Parts, (Just food for thought in case you need them one day),

HP Touchsmart IQ526- Black Screen and Amber LED please help! No display. Is this a hard drive issue?

Also had this issue on the Touchsmart IQ526. Removed the CMOS battery, waited some minutes, then powered on. The power button remained blue and had video again. Reinserted the CMOS battery and put the unit back together. Note - the battery was on the mainboard.

Go to and look up your computer.
Download and install the Vista drivers.
If you don't see Vista drivers the computer won't run Vista. Go back to XP.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

My Medion MIM 2260 will not start when when i push the start button, it was working ok yesterday then just switched itself off now will not start again it did this once before i left it for aproxamatly one...

my guess is that you need to replace some hardware. it is weird that the pc stopped working then started again. if the pc doesn't turn on at all, make sure all wires are plugged in properly and if it still doesn't turn on then its probably the power supply.
