Question about Sony VAIO VGN-SZ330P/B Notebook

Malfunction of the left button of the touch pad

I'm an owner of a VAIO VGN-SZ79GN since July 2008.
I've noticed a problem with the left button of the touch pad.
When I press the button I feel the "click" but nothing happens.
To make the button work properly I have to press it hard enough.
I think that this is a problem but I don't know if the origin of this is the software or the hardware. Could you give me any solution?
Thanks in advance.

it's exactly the same problem with mine. not sure why this happens, and i use external mouse most of the times. Another problem is my mouse pointer goes reverse direction at times.

One of my laptops suffers from the same problem.

    VGN-NR220E

I have not yet had a chance to take the ****** apart, but as far as I see from the part’s photographs on the web, mouse buttons are NOT a part of the touchpad assembly, only plastic pushers are. Chances are, that there is nothing wrong with the pushers, so do not order the new touchpad before you actually see that the problem is.

I had the same problem . The micro switch needs to be replaced . All push button micro switches have a certain amount of "clicks" before they loose ability to make a good contact . Your left click switch has exceeded its life and can no longer make a clean contact without more pressure . Eventually the spring in the switch will fail thus stick permanantly. You will have to take it to an authorized Sony Service center or maybe an office machine service department might have the replacment . I fixed my own with an old mouse microswitch .Hey it's a Cheap laptop and uses cheap parts.

Good day!
From what you have told us, it sounds like a hardware problem. It's possible that something may have come loose and could be corrected by removing it from the laptop and checking it out. Also, some foreign material (spilled liquid, food crumbs, paper clip, part of a tooth pick, etc.) may have gotten down in the area and is causing the button to stick. The probable resolution is to simply replace the touch pad with a good, new or used, touch pad assembly.
Hope this information helps to get yu going.
Have an excellentday!
Ron

I have bought a sony vgn-n38e anf i am not able to scroll up or down on the right hand side of the touch pad, i would like to know if there is simply a button to press to rectify this or if it is possibly...

So you need to update driver for this touchpad scrolling error.

Please click on the below link
ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/ALDOTH-00199336-US.EXE

This will download the driver for your touch pad then you need to run the driver that you downloaded.
Then restart the notebook
Check whether it is working.

you can find other drivers for Sony Vaio VGN-A790 on the below link.

Hope this resolve your query.

Can't move the dialog box with the mouse using the touch pad can't move an open window or grab the end of the window to resize the window

there are two ways to do that using the touch pad. first is by tapping it twice while the mouse pointer is pointed at the ends or at the dialog box and then dragging it to anywhere you want. second way is to use the left clicker of your touch pad by pressing and holding it while the pointer is pointed at the dialog box and then use the touch pad to drag it to anywhere you want.... i hope this helps...
