The belt inside has fallen off the tracks or has broken. That would have to go to a small appliance store. Sorry. Thank you!

Connecting a turntable?

If you have a Phono input it will provide the additional amplification needed for the ceramic cartridge, and perhaps even more amplification for a magnetic cartridge, made available by a switch. It also has extra bass boost to counteract the lack of bass in the recording, done so as to keep the grooves from making use of lots of platter real estate. By minimizing the bass, the recording time is increased.

If you don't have a Phono input, but you have an aux input, you may have to crank the volume and the bass to get reasonable sound, because the phonograph cartridge doesn't produce much output as compared to "line-level" devices such as a line-out on a tape deck.

If you trace back the wires from the deck to where it leads in the amp you should find a small pre-amp board. Hoepfully you will see a single IC on it. If you do replace that.

I just got this unit, and tried to put on a record, but the needle just goes strait to the center and wont actually play the record.....any suggestions???

the tone arm need adjustment by a techician or you could try a new needle.

When testing use a record that is in good condition but not one you like.

Record player sounds scratchy and tinny

Playing records is a contact sport.

Since the needle touches the record -- as opposed to a laser reading a CD -- any bit of dust or mold translates to annoying pops and hisses.

Record cleaners get down into the record grooves to extract dust and particles.

Or you may need a new needle.

Putting a needle in my nr303tt

the needle should slide on and off. you should consult your owners manual or if you do not have one, you can download and print one from the emerson web site.

Replacment needles can be purchaced from the only authorized distributor of emerson parts(Fox International LTD. , Inc.) (800) 321-6993. Don't forget to provide your model number.

Turn Tble will not turn.

open up the top (where the record player is). Take off the pad, then remove the little c-clip surrounding the metal peg (in the center). Remove the turn table. Check underneath to see if the strap/belt is rather broken or has slipped off. If it broke, you have to go buy a new one. If it slipped off, put it back on. Put one end of the belt around the white plastic peg (the one that turns) and then the rest goes around the first outer ring on the bottom of the turn table (the middle one, between the outer edge and the middle insertion area. Its a real pain in the **** to do because it slips off a lot the first couple times...but you will get it eventually :) Once that is done put the table back on, test it, if it works put the c-clip back on (which is a lot harder than taking it off if I do say so myself lol) Put the rubber cover back on and Voila! You have a working turn table. For those with a broken belt use this as a replacement guide :)

Good luck guys and enjoy some good ol' Vinyl cause they are making a comeback!

Emerson NR305TT - Replacement Turntable Needles

I have the same model. Though I haven't replaced the needle yet, I was able to remove the broken one. You'll see that the arm has a red plastic attachment. It houses the needle in a very thin strip of something like electrician's tape. There is a very small separation on the front (end of the arm facing you) of the tone arm, where the arm (black plastic) and needle "cartridge" (red plastic) come together. I used a metal nail file and pried them apart very gently. At this point the red plastic "cartridge" with the broken needle was hanging but still connected on either side. The red plastic "cartridge" is made with tiny plastic 'bumps' that pop into indentations built into the black plastic of the arm. Again, using my metal nail file, I simply held the arm and pried the red plastic "cartridge" away from one side. It popped off the other immediately and fell away from the arm. Voila!

Hope this helps!
