Question about Mitsubishi VS-6043 60" Rear Projection Television

11-year old Mitsubishi VS-6043 picture flickers and bends

As described, the picture flickers and bends for quite a while, then calms down for hours, even days....and starts back up again....sometimes, if we let if "rest" it seems to get better, but now it is quite bad....Any thoughts? Worth repairing or buy new?

Thanks, Skarecrow

Does it work normally with EXT inputs? If the answer is yes you probably have a tuner doing the same thing as mine with the video signal, namely clipping the sync off of it by mistake. If the deflection was doing this the power supply would most likely shut down. The tuner uses a chip with a black noise clipper of all things, just what you need to remove the sync accidentally, I have a post here looking for an answer. I put a scope on mine and it's weird, video and chroma are OK, just nearly no sync pulses so naturally the TV goes nuts.

Check for cold solder joints on the yoke connector located behind the speaker grill and mounted on the crts. You may also want to check for cold solder on the vertical output i.c.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Monoscope signal how to get it Mitsubishi VS-6043 rear tring to adjust the picture its all warped looking got tv out of ditch tring to make it work

does the convergence align or move? how is the picture distorted? if the picture aligns but is just warped, use a jig or some string to have some straight lines to reference for your geometry and convergence. the monoscope signal is hard to find and mits had it on a vhs tape back in the day. it really just helped you get the horizontal and vertical size and get a round circle to fix the warp.. just try to make all the grid points about the same distance apart and make it an even grid.

When new that unit sold for around $2000 and $3000. But that is an older unit and you'd be lucky to get $500 for it now. It was manufactured in 1996 making it 13 years old.

Mitsubishi VS-6043 - 60 inch

These are fairly simple, remove the speaker cover and then remove the screws at the bottom of the screen, then the whole thing lifts up and off, be sure to unplug the front panel controls, this plug can usaly be found just behind the cover behind the speaker grill
