    Abogalho,

    When the system boots up, press f8 (key) until you see the advanced boot menu, there should be "Repair your Computer", use that and there is a menu to pick, I highly recommend you start with System Restore, then Startup Repair.Try picking a restore before a recent software (this will actually work). If it doesn't, you might want to check with your BIOS and the information that came with the package

    If it still doesn't work, let me know.

Try to get Acronis Disk Director. This program is able to read and format your harddisk, even when Windows is not able to see it (*). With the mentioned software, you can format the disk and make it readable for Windows.

(*) Maybe it's not formatted, or contains a file-format which Windows does not recognise, like what happened, when this disk was previously formatted for UNIX/Linux-systems. With Acronis you can overcome this problem.

Can the disk viewed in disk management?

Right Click 'My Computer'-->Manage-->storage-->Disk Management

Either the HDD controller is bad or the HDDs you used have bad sectors.HDD regenerator software alot of times will correct the bad sectors and then the OS will install correctly and function smoothly.

Can't Format

Hi,
Its very rare problem but its due to HDD ( Hard Disk Drive ) problems.

For getting rid of it you will need to perform Primary HDD test in BIOS setup and also try to toggle between HDD type from SATA to ATA or vice-versa in same BIOS.

I am sure you will get rid of your problem.

Plz rate me properly if i was helpful to u.

With Regards,

Driver problem

you need to follow these instructions:

0. Download the XP Sata driver from the support page and create the driver floppy, attached usb floppy drive to laptop: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=
en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3375953&swItem=ob-51454-1&prod
NameId=3375995&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1

1. Power up, hit F10 to enter setup
2. DISABLE SATA native mode
3. Follow the installation instructions in the supplied readme.

If you DO NOT disable native mode for the sata drive, you will end up going around in circles with the XP setup informing you there is no hdd in the laptop, even though you specifically installed sata drivers off the floppy.

Once you get past the "Hit enter to install Windows", you can trash all the partitions on the drive, and recreate one big partition for XP :)

***NOTE*** MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR DRIVERS FOR XP ON A CD AND READY TO INSTALL. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THEM AT THE HP WEBSITE.
