Visiontek HD650 TV Tuner Card drops frames

Just installed this last week and everything went fine. My problem is both video inputs (s-video and cable) are dropping serious frames whlie viewing. However when I record from both sources the video is fine. My video card and memory meet the required specs. Any ideas?

Hello mabusse
The sofware is too heavy for your computer . You can improve it's function buy setting the quality to a lower level , it will record smootherly but of course the image will be less sharp .
I experienced my self that the best way to succeed in recordong video tapes or tv programs is to use a stand alone recorder .
Best regards ,

Hi, I have buy a Frontech External TV Tuner card. On connecting to my LCD monitor (AOC) the monitor displays "Input Not Supported", but if my computer is running fine from the card (as manual...

TV tuner cards receive an input. Your monitor should still be connected to your computer using the VGA/DVI/HDMI output. The software for the TV Tuner should take the input from the external cards input and output it to your monitor like any other desktop application.
If your Monitor is giving you input not supported from your standard video output then you may have your resolution set to high,or the monitor frequency set too high (max of 60hz typically for LCD)

Sorry the chat message was not visible to me so im posting the answer here incase you have any question post the message here its gona be free.

The difference between your TV tuner and your graphics card (at least what matters here) is that the TV tuner takes an input from your cable line or an antenna and draws to the frame buffer, it is an input. The graphics card takes that frame buffer and creates the signals needed to drive your monitor's screen, it is an output device.

graphics cards usually provide the s-video connection so you can do things like hook up your desktop to your living room television instead of a monitor. It is inherintly a different type of device than the tv tuner.

Some graphics cards do have video inputs for video mixing, but it is not likely that a regular PC owner would own them
