Question about HP Pavilion a1140n (PX774AA) PC Desktop

Hp Pavillion a1140n suddenly has very low sound...

    thanks, did all that simple stuff first, and also put different speakers on, they also worked, but with very low sound...I am thinking it is probably a driver issue. I have gone to HP website to look for a new driver for the sound card.

Chances are this is a windows sound setting. in the system tray (bottom right by the clock) right click the speaker icon and select 'Open Volume Control' you will see a series of sliders. Check and make sure none are set low. about 3/4 up for each should be fine.

Other things to check:
Speaker Cables, Speaker Volume, power to speakers.

    might also check the properties for audio Recording controls too, I have seen that be a problem too.

    I have had success in the past by using AC3 Filter which gives a bit more control over the sound settings. I also hear the the IDT audio driver (if that is what you have) is giving some problems.

My hp pavilion a1140n has 4G RAM installed but only shows 3.11G my copmuter, properties. I've tried different orders of installation/configuration of cards and I get 2G, 3G, 3.11G. Anyone know why?

The system probably uses some of the ram for the onboard video/on board sound...also known as shared memory. If you go to the BIOS should be able to see what the total memory is and what shares this memory

Go as "big" as you want -- the GPU will only draw the amperage that it requires -- it's not a mattter of pouring 2 liters of gasoline into a 1 liter container on the floor, while trying to keep the floor dry.

My HP Pavillion will not load windows. Goes to a blank screen. It will run in safe mode though. Please help

...look like that your VGA card had a problem...unplug the power cord from your CPU and then...if you know how to open the case of the CPU then you can try to take out your VGA card from the the VGA pin with soft and smooth cloth...then put it back to the motherboard...and also try to take out your memory from the motherboard and use the same as you cleaning the VGA and put it bank in the motherboard...and then try to turn in on again...if it's still a problem then try to use your VGA card to other motherboard and test it...if the problem still persist then you have to buy a new VGA card...

My hp pavillion a 1140n desktop will not power up. I already changed the power supply. No luck

just for giggles, if you open the tower and look closely at the bottom right side of your motherboard there should be wires there. the wires themselves shouls be labelled like led light, reset and so forth, now if you look at the motherboard were these are located there should be labels there for each wire. make sure they are all connected and didnt come off for the sake of coming off because they only slide on, make sure everything is in the right place coming from the power button of the front of the tower.
i had the same problem and the main power slipped off somehow, and thats all it was, just the one wire

My hp pavillion laptop all of a sudden the headphone outlet quit

if the outlet is indeed broken then you need to take the computer in for service. Do so while it's still in warranty.

Check your Sound preferences to be sure you have the correct sound output port selected.

HP Pavilion a1140n PC Desktop dvdw drive will read and write cds but not dvds

Have checked to see if there is a firmware update? You should be able to find out on HP's website or alternatively on the website of the DVD/R's manufacturer.
