If you can, plug the memory card into your computer, open it for viewing and delete all files on the card.  Then put it in the phone and format it.  This is the only way I can think to do it.  At least this is what I had to do.  Good Luck.

Hello,

you can not format your card without loosing data on it. The solution is to copy all the data to your computer, format the card (in your computer, still) and then copy the data back.

Hope this helps,
Lucas

You can connect phone's memory card to computer, then download this file recovery program which is outstanding among all file recovery software.

Please note that your phone's memory card should shown as a drive letter (like E:) in Computer, if not, you need to take out the memory card and then connect it to computer using a card reader (get one from ebay if you haven't already have one).

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

How to format nokia mobil

To format the phone dial *#7370# from your phone. But, before you do that, backup all the data including the phone settings as you will lose all dat when you format the phone. And also remove the memory card from the phone before formatting. If you want to format the memory card then use the File Manager and from there select the memory card. Go to Options and you will find an option for formatting the memory card. Use this.

Memory card

Does your phone itself have enough memory to store your videos. If so, put the card back into phone, create a folder in the phone memory and transfer the vids from card to phone. When done, put the card back into PC and format it (Quick Format if poss). When done, put it bach in phone and transfer vids back. Now put it in PC, it should read a card which it formatted itself! Hi j_perez022,

Insert the memory card into a reader on your computer. Open My Computer. Right-click on the drive letter for the memory card. Select Format from the menu. Click on Start in the Format window. Proceed from there.

Formatting 1g memory card

First, please let us know with what are you trying to format the card.
Also the type of card would be useful as well. An SD card for example has a little plastic catch on the left side that sets the card to read only.

When you mention a phone however it could be anything... For nokias for example a card formatted by a PC is often unusable on the phone. I suggest that you try to switch off the phone then before turning on the phone press and hold the abc button and hold it down all the way through the boot up process (when it asks for the pin or gives you the standby menu).

Sony ericsson phone are not normally troubled by this.

As for the error message would you be using Vista ? if this is the case this would be a question of access rights ... are you admin ?
