Question about Harman Kardon CDR30 2-Disc CD Recorder

2 different "Recording" problems with my unit.........

Hello, I have 2 different problems with my CDR30. One, is the "copying one CD from another" function. The problem with this function is that if, for example, you are making a copy of a 60 minute track, the CD burner will keep burning beyond the 60 minute mark, and will keep running to the end of the disc, thus "Adding" 20 minutes of silence to the new track. So, basically, the machine keeps running beyond the end of the master disc. Problem two is related to dubbing from another source. My usual input is an analog source (Tape deck). I'll be burning a CD in deck #2 using the analog input, and the machine will stop the track by itself after 10 or 20 seconds. Sometimes the machine will run for several minutes before ending the track. But the result is always the same: the track was ended prematurely. I had a repair shop "Fix" the problems, and they could find no faults. So they "Adjusted and cleaned" the laser, and the unit worked fine for about 4 weeks, and is now repeating the same faults. Anything I can do before I scrap this unit ?? I've had the unit about 5-6 years, and prior to these problems, have had flawless performance from it, so i'd like to try to resurect it. Thanks !!

Can copy from analog sources, but can't copy from digital source, eventhough the signal is monitored. The display says "can't copy".

The unit requires Digital Audio CD-R or CD-RW media for
recording. Computer CD-R or CD-RW discs do not work with
this unit.

Serial Copy Management System
This unit is in compliance with the Serial Copy Management

through a digital input connection. However, further digital
to- digital recording is prohibited for the second and later
Rule 2

JVC XL-R2010 CD Recorder - recording dao problem

Reading the manual over and over, it looks like there is a function called Autotrack and by default is ON.
In the manual, page 22, shows you how to put the Autrack OFF.
Be careful that if you use the synchronize one-button recording you will have again the Autrack automatically ON again and that means a pause or bump between tracks.
For your reference I used the manual at this location

Please let me know if you need further help.

Describe your Harman Kardon CDR30 2-Disc CD Recorder Problem It's a CDR26 and neither of the drawers will open.

With mine, it was the drive belts for the cd drawers, which were stretched and rigid. Open the case. Remove the 4 screws that hold down each cd drive. Push the drives out enough so you can pull the silver facing off the sliding try by pulling it up. Now you can lift out the cd drives, removing all the connectors as you go. Flip the white plastic slider underneath each drive and you can mechanically open the slide tray. This reveals the little motor and rubber pulley belt that operates the slide tray. If the belts are broken, perished, rigid or something, get something similar from your local electronics parts store (a couple of bucks each belt), and reassemble.

Recording audio only from an HDTV concert

Have a look at the manual for your AV receiver, you may find that you can change the digital output format between DTS mode and PCM(audio) mode. It needs to be in PCM(audio) mode for your CD recorder to be able to record digitally. If that doesn't solve it I can only suggest recording in analogue mode, i.e. taking a stereo analogue signal from your receiver to the analogue inputs of your CD recorder.

Hope this helps
