Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators
I bought a used Whirlpool Gold Ref. Model # GD5RHAXNT00 SERIAL # SR1428008 Mnf date 4/04. I bought this unit and transported it about 250 miles on its side. I supported the compressor and allowed it to stand up right for 48 hours before it was plugged in. It was on its side about 20 hours. The unit worked fine when plugged in but after about two days, it quit working. I called a local service man who consulted with his link and it was determined that the main board was bad. It was replaced and everything worked fine for a few days until it died again. When it dies, the lights are out on the ref side but burn on the freezer side, the ice melts out of the freezer, the ref warms up etc. All it takes to get it going again is to unplug it and plug it right back in.
It sounds like to me its your defrost timer(usually under 20.00) that is bad. Yhe are very inexspensive and easy to get to.You can purchase one AT YOUR LOCAL SEARS or online with your model # Glad to be of service
