Question about Sigma Sport BC1106 Dts Wireless Bike Computer

2 Answers

My Sigma DTS 1106 bike computer isn't calculating miles for me.

Since the purchase of my computer last summer, it has only calculated 31 miles for me when I have put on several hundred. I changed the battery in the component that attaches to the fork thinking that might be the problem, but it still isn't opporating. The screen is functioning, just not registering the miles. I can't seem to locate the owner's manual either in my garage or on-line. Help!

I also have this problem. When I start to ride it went good but then suddenly just stop to calculate. I must stop or release the computer and put it back again to get it work. It´s very frustrating and it drive me mad.

I have found the instruction manual for this online and don't bother. It's in 8 different languages all on one page and you basically just look at the pictures, there is no troubleshooting. It's here

I just bought one on ebay and can't figure out the light. According to the manual you push both buttons on the left side, but this puts me to the reset mode.

The calculator cannot add the terms of a sequence. You need a graphing calculator that has that feature, or a calculator with a CAS (Computer Algebra System).

Where is the standard deviation button?

There isn't one. Press the "STAT VAR" button to bring up the statistics menu. "Sx" and "Sy" will give you the sample standard deviations, while "sigma x" and "sigma y" will give you the population standard deviations.

When I say "sigma" I mean the lower case Greek letter sigma, which looks like a lower-case "o" with a tail pointing to the right.

I had this problem as well. What I found was that the transmitter path from the magnetic sensor to the computer is very narrow, a 15 degree cone. Reposition your computer to fall within this cone. It should pick up the signal.

Without input from the wheel sensor it will not calculate anything. If it's wireless maybe it lacks a good line of sight or it's too far away. Take it off the handlebar, prop the bike so you can spin the wheel and hold the computer close to the transponder to see if it indeed CAN see it. Then work out the distance or line of sight issue.

Don't fixate on your computer once you get it working. I destroyed a bike frame when I crashed while watching my first bike computer at the end of a ride.

Sigma BC 1106 DTS wireless. After 2 years it will only register time, total distance and total hours all other functions have ceased to work. Battery's have been changed, contacts cleaned and all parts...

Here is the link to Sigma Sport. They have a good customer service and I would discuss directly with them. That way whatever is determined you cut out several steps and either get the unit replaced or fixed properly with advice that is direct from the source.

This may also be a warranty situation in which case again you will eventually need to go through Sigma Sport.

You have done all the normal things that make sense to diagnosing the problem, sounds more like the problem is internal. One thing to also keep in mind, electronics like this do wear out and sometimes they just start to die off. This may also be the case, but Sigma Sport will be able to tell you.

Good luck

How do I calculate wheel size for my bike. 25 inch wheel without tire for example

There's a size chart on page 15 of the manual that has great instructions for measuring and entering the wheel size.

You can get the manual from Sigma's website at this link.

Method "B" is the most accurate way -- make a chalk mark on the tire and stand the bike up next to a wall with the chalk mark at the bottom.
Have a friend make a chalk mark on the ground at that point.
WITH YOUR FULL WEIGHT ON THE BIKE, move forward for one rotation of the wheel -- until the chalk mark is on the bottom again. Do this as straight-line as you can.
Have your friend make another mark on the ground at this point, and measure the line between the two points on the ground.

This is the wheel circumference, and if you do this with normal tire inflation and with your full weight on the bike, it's the most accurate way to calibrate your cyclocomputer.

If this helps, please be sure to hit the "thumbs up" for me.
If not, of if you have questions, use "add comment" to post back here, and I'll do my best to get you going.
