Hey good for you thats an eazy one .pull the washer out abit and then tip so the top resting on wall behind.be careful dose not slip out from under but ihave done it a hundred times as a repairman.before replacing the belt inspect the motor pulley, its plastic and they do melt.also inspect the pump pulley making sure it turns freely and the spot welds are not broken joinning the pulley to the pump shaft...........other wise just spin the old belt off and spin the new belt on.the belt goes on a total of three pulleys .thats it if you need any other help you can email . God bless ,tom

The belt has been ruined. Basically there was to much load on the belt. You will need to replace the belt, maybe a 20 dollar fix and should take no longer then 15 minutes. Just make sure that before you go to the parts house, your remove the old belt and take it with you along with the model and serial number of the machine.

My maytag atlantis will not agitate it runs through all the cycles it will spin but will not agitate. The belt is intact.

WELL THATS BECAUSE ITS AGITATED WITH THE XTRA LOAD YOU PUT IT THROUGH WHEN YOU ARE SITTING ON IT NOW I KNOW ITS FUN BUT SPIN CYCLE IS ONLY DESIGNED FOR WASHING CLOTHS...I HOPE THIS ADVISE FIXED YOUR PROBLEM.

Washing machine won't agitate

it sounds like the transmission is shot. Not knowing the cost of parts if you can replace the transmission yourself then yes it could be worth fixing however if you can't do the job yourself adding cost of parts and labor it may not be worth it

Tip the machine back remove the belt try to turn the drive pulley manually . sorry the larger pulley in the centre. if you can turn it counter clockwise and feel the inner drum moving then the thrust bearing is ok. if not you may need to replace it.Also a bad lid switch can cause this problem.

Mine the same concern, I took it apart and found the thermo fuse in the motor had a bad terminal. Maytag parts man said you must get a new motor even though the fuse has a part # on it and is easy to change. I made temporary repairs until I find a fuse from a used parts machine. Scott
