I had the same issue. I took it to a friend of mine who is good with
computers hoping he might be able to fix it........and he
did....apparently the HOLD button was slid to the right locking all
functions...once he slid it to the left closest to the power button, it
worked fine. Imagine my embarrassment...I hope this is all that is
wrong with yours as well....if that doesn't held try the reset button near the usb plug in....
if you are having the problem of a blank white screen, dont freak out! hold down the menu and select button for about 15 seconds or until the appel logo appears.if this doesnt work try plugging in your ipod. if that doesnt work wiggle the lock and unlock button a couple of times. if all these soulutions dont work go to www.apple.com and call customer support
Try going to recovery mode by enabling the hold switch then press the record button then press the menu button until you see on the player screen welcom to recovery mode. Download the update from the sandisk site then install and run it on your computer. Then perform the update. Hope that helps.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
