Question about Dell Inspiron 630M Notebook

Open Question

Loss of wireless use. Cable connection works fine.

I have a Dell D510 that has lost wireless connection, became very intermittant then not at all. I've tried another wireless card in it from my Dell D810 I think it is and it came up but then failed again. If I search for available wireless networks it fails to find two that are active. I then search again and it finds the strongest network but won't connect. If I click on 'repair' it again cannot connect to the wireless network.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

I have vertical coloured lines on screen, these will go away if screen is pushed back and forth. Any Ideas? It is a Dell Latitude D510

There is a thin ribbon cable that runs from the motherboard to the screen, it is this that has worn.

If you can imagine every time the laptop is opened and closed it bends the ribbon cable back and forth and eventually get fatigues giving the lines on the screen where it is wearing away the connection.

They can be replaced but require quite a lot of work to replace as you have to strip down the screen and base unit to get to both ends.

Search for Dell D510 Display cable and you should find what I am talking about. A second one appears to be about £10 - £15.

Wireless connection has disappeared since re-installation of windows on dell d510

You will need the drivers from the Dell website, or install the Dell drivers and utilities disk if you still have it.

My dell latitude d510 drops wireless connection, lately as many as 5-6 times an hour. The routers seems to be working, and the wireless connection Icon says I am connect by I get the screen telling me I am...

The problem may not be the WI-FI but in the router itself. You didn't mention the strength of the connection when you are able to connect. It's also possible that the channel the router is on has interference and changing the channel will provide a more reliable signal.

Dell Latitude D510 - Turn on Radio for WiFi

This can be found in a couple of areas. Under Computer Management, make sure Wireless Zero Configuration is set to enabled. Also under Network Connections, make sure that the network adapter is showing as enabled, and is not disabled. This can be done by right clicking on the network connection and clicking enable.

This issue sounds like you may need to explain to her that the network cabling needs to be changed around so that the router recognizes the cable modem, and than she should be set.
