Go to an Electric supply store and tell them it is a 20 amp plug. They should be able to get the correct plug.
I had this generator and had to adjust the prong to make it work.

Want to add 240volt outlet to generator

You CANNOT do this, USA 240V is derived from a poly phase scenario, IE 120V line to neautral and 240V line to line, UK 240V is derived from 1 line to neutral it will not work unless you power a transformer

I have a coleman powermate maxa 5000 er Generator. Model # PM0525202. The powercord plug came loose and burnt the plug and the receptical(240). I replaced the plug and receptical and I am not getting...

If this is the model I am thinking of, there are 3 outlets. One 240V (L1, L2, Neutral and Earth ground. Some models use a 3 terminal receptacle that combines Neutral and earth.), one 120V receptacle (L1, Neut, earth) and another 120V receptacle (L2, Neut, earth).

If you verified fuse and circuit breakers are good, turn on the generator and verify you get 120V on each of the two outlets. Measuring between the narrow blades of the two 120V outlets should be 240V.
***Shut off the generator.
With a test light or ohmmeter, check continuity from the earth terminal of 120V outlets to 240V outlet. Likewise for neutral (wider blade on 120V outlet). Lastly, check continuity from Narrow blade of each outlet to the 240V outlet.

I suspect that you miswired neutral and earth. On a 4 wire PLUG, it is customary to connect earth and neutral.

Work safely so you can give feedback.

Yes, you can buy another pig tail with the set up you have incoming. Just be sure when you remove your old one, you note which wire goes where.

NO 20amp 120v power

you probably tripped a circuit breaker. Carefully push in all the circuit breakers, I bet that one of them will give slightly and power will be restored.

Sometimes the 20amp outlet is also a GFI outlet. You may need to reset the outlet itself if so equipped.

Dryer outlet does not have common wire.

You can replace the 4 prong with a three prog cord found at Lowes etc.

First, disconnect the black wire, one of the "hot" connections, from the left side post by removing the terminal screw. This is one-half of the 240-volt connection.
Next, disconnect the red wire, another of the "hot" connections, from the right side post by removing the terminal screw. This is the other half of the 240-volt connection.
Then, disconnect the white wire from the center connection. It is used for the neutral connection.
Now, disconnect the green wire from the machine case by unscrewing the green screw.
The next step is critical to return your electrical connection to factory condition before installng the 3-prong cord! Locate the white machine wire that is now connected to the neutral (center) screw terminal. Disconnect it from there and install it under the green ground screw.Connect the outer two wires (hot wires) to the outer two screws, obviously, one on each screw.
Now connect the center wire (neutral) to the center post. You'll notice the white machine wire is now the case ground connection, unlike the 4-prong cord connection in which the green wire from the cord makes the ground connection.

Outlet has 3 holes and dryer cord has 4 prongs, what do i do to use existing cord

A 4-prong dryer cord means your dryer requires 240 volts, and will not work with a normal 120V household outlet.

Is your existing outlet a normal outlet like every other one in your house, or is it three holes in an unusual pattern?

If you want to get technical, I'm guessing that your dryer cord is a NEMA-14 (see the picture to the right for examples of NEMA-14-30 and 14-50 plug patterns)
I'm also guessing that the outlet is a NEMA-5 outlet.

If either of my guesses are wrong, let me know what picture/description best fits your cord/outlet and I'll try to help as best I can.

From three prong to four prong

Hello There,

your hooking up 2 Hots 1 Neutral and 1 Ground

240v

you need to consult a electrician for reason that 240 is a very high voltage and will kill you.

your outlet has to match your plug and how its wired into the Panel

Double Pole Breaker 50amp no less

2 hots go to breaker from outlet red / black
1 neutral goes to neutral bus bar in panel from outlet
1 ground goes to ground bus bar in panel from outlet

that equals your four wires
