Re: Help with burning a DVD
You can't copy the DVD movie as files. although you will see the movies files in chapters.
I don't have any luck using Nero or Roxio for Movies, they are OK with video copy.
I use DVDFAB. there are somting regular DVD writer just can't do.

Select Data Icon>
Select Make Data CD>
Select the Picture/Pictures "You can select multiples by click and drag system">Add/Finish after selecting the desire picture.>
There you you'll see a dialog box appearing:
In the dialog box change it according to your desire format/option.
1."Current recorder" choose the CD-R/RW drive.(if you have two drive) in which drive you want to write your picture
2.Disc name "type your desire name"
3.Writing Speed "you can choose anyone from the option"
4.Number of copies: "how many copy of disc you want to write it depend on you"
5. Allow files to be added later
6.Verify data on disc after burning

yes you should be able to play CD on the DVD reader.
Dimension 2400 have drive slide mounted on the side of the hard drive, cd drive and floppy. they are different for each device. you need the 2 side mount for the dvd. in order to mount them in the Dell.
the drive is inserted from the inside of the box toward the front. The front panel will prevent the device from pop out.
yes, 3 party DVD, CD drive will be shorter and fater that what Dell porvide, but it will work, al long as the opening is accessable.

Unfortunately optical drives do have a short life span, you can buy a replacement from newegg.com so cheaply these days its not worth messing with the old one.
