I have a FreeAgent 1 TB external hard drive. It worked fine for over an year. And it just fell down from a table and since then the drive is not recognized. I can see it under device manager, but do not...

You could try to use file recovery tools like File Scavenger or similar. If at fall moment Hard Drive was ON, then there is bigger chance that information will be unrecoverable because of damage of Hard Drive disc surface. If data is very important like work data (MS Office files and so on) I would suggest to hand this item to local data recovery center. It might be costly but if data is essential then no doubt it is worth to try.

hello, if the hdd is not being recognize by your Sony laptop, may be because the device is not responding any more, anyway this is still new you can have that Hitachi replace via the warranty, but your not suppose to tell them what happen cause that would fall for intentional damage. Just tell them it stop working. Thank you for using Fixya

My 1Tb Seagate FreeAgent Go portable drive stopped being recognized. When plugged in the lights blink but I can't see it to recognize it.

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

External HDD no longer recognized by new win7 PC

Probably not the right answer for your problem. Mine is an external 1 TB Simple Drive. Mine wouldn't respond at all. I unplugged the power cable from the back of the hard drive and replugged it in and instantly it worked. I had tried rebooting the computer, plugging/unplugging over and over into the computer and that didn't work.

Computer not reading free agent pro

I suspect an IRQ conflict in this case. where one day things are workig fine and the next day they are not because the IRQ conflict has made it's self known.

if no IRQ conflict is present , I would suspect a dead drive , time to replace the ole girl. these things happen , touchy equipment , buggy driver sets , you name it , things will however improve.

and remember if it's not hebrew , it's a lie :-> shalom
