Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

Lines and pixels!

I just had my laptop's display replaced because the screen kept going dark.

Now, 2 days after I get my laptop back from the repair shop, out of the blue my screen has pink horizonal lines on the screens and odd pixelations! What is going on now?!

Please help, thanks!

I am sorry, however I am unable to find display drivers available for download on the website. Do they go under another name perhaps?

The on-board display is going out. The only other thing you can try to fix this is to install new display drivers. I found the driver page from dell here. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

If this link does not work type in dell.com in your search (Google,Yahoo, ect) and go to the support site and choose your model. The driver you are looking for is the display drivers. on the page i found it lists two of them. You only need the most current one. I.e : 2.05.3 is older than 2.12.4 If you need any further help i will be available, and please don't forget to rate the responses.

I forgot to add that the on-board display cannot be replaced. If the driver does in fact not work you will need to buy a new machine or have yours totally rebuilt(Way too much money). Unless your notebook can have a video card installed, i'm not sure if yours can but i did not see anything about this when i looked up your computer.

And one last option is to hook up an external monitor and see if you have the same problem. If not this is how you will need to use your notebook until you replace it. Sorry for the bad news but sometime stuff just breaks.

It sounds like dead pixels in the LCD display. the only way to get rid of the lines is to replace the Display unit in the laptop. This can be a very expensive repair so I'd check it in with an IT professional first.

My lcd has 3 black lines, around 10-12 pixels up 3 days ago, and now it affected the pixels around it, in a span of 3 days, it multiplied to around 80 pixels that's just dead. what do i do? i dont want...

The only option in your case is to have the LCD replaced so Istrongly suggest you take it to your repair man. A reasonable price for that type of repair isabout 50 dollars plus the cost of the screen. You may find a price in the rangeof 50 to 100 dollars plus the cost of the screen though. Any more than that and I would find adifferent repair guy! Ebay is the best place to find the cost of your screen, just type in you model number and add the letters "LCD" to the end.

Stuck or dead pixels,

Sometimes in a lcd life what happends is you get a stuck pixel in some instances a DEAD pixel. Stuck pixels can be worked out. There is a program you can download to work this out.

Here is the URL to the program click here

I has been known to work otherwise you might have to get the lcd replaced.

My laptop screen has a thin blue line going down, why has this happened?

You have the beginning of a failing Display panel, and will eventually need to replace the display.. you can hold the top left and right sides of the display screen-slightly bend forward and back, you should see the blue line either go away or it will produce more lines...

This is due to a short on the circuit board panel on the backside of the display panel that controls the Pixels on the Screen.. The Pixels are controlled In a Line Grid Fashion...

Screen crazies

Doesn't sound like a good situation. My knee **** reaction would be to reseat the cable and power to the LCD screen. If that doesn't work, I'd take advantage of the warranty. They might be able to get you up and running in short order.
Hope this helps!

LIGHT BLUE VERTICAL LINE ON MONITOR

The vertical line is a bad pixel sensor at the edge of the screen, your screen has hundreds of vertical and horizonal pixel sensors. This is an indicator that the screen is going out and need replacing.

If you?re positive that the black spots aren?t dirt or scratches on the outside of your screen you are probably dealing with dead screen pixels. Short of replacing the LCD screen there is no way to repair them.
