Question about Garmin GPS
It's so easy to become dependent on this technology isn't it?
If you have access to a computer and the right cables to link your Garmin, try this:
Go to www.garmin.com
They will have a web page dedicated to whatever model you have.
Once you have found that page look for a box in the upper left hand corner that has some links in it.
One of the links will be labeled something like "downloads and updates"
Click on that link and download the most recent software update.
If you're not comfortable with computers, try taking the GPS to West Marine. They have stores all over Florida and most of them will have some tech type guy that can download the update for you. Also you could probably get it done at the Geek Squad desk at Best Buy.
If updating the software doesn't solve the problem then there is probably something wrong with the hardware, and it would have to be sent to Garmin for repair. They recently told me the flat rate to repair my streetpilot 550 was $250.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
