This will occur if you have installed a clean copy of windows i.e not the one supplied by IBM and/or you have uninstalled the access IBM software (or it isn't installed in the first place) . You can get the access ibm software at the manufacturers website. The ACCESS IBM button will not function during boot up if you have removed the access ibm rescue and recovery partition. It can also be activated/deactivated from the BIOS. ( Press F11 or F1 0 during boot up )

I am unable to connect to a wireless network on my ibm thinkpad T60 pc

First is there a security code to connect to your wireless access point? This is YOUR home wireless? Is your wireless adapter enabled, and working properly on the laptop? Reboot the wireless access point by removing th AC plug and wait 30 seconds, plug in, wait for the device to self-test. Cold-start your laptop, unplug. remove battery, plug in, reboot. If that fails go to IBM/ Lonovo website and update driver for wireless adapter. And all other deivers as needed.

Where is the wireless switch for ibm t42 laptop i have tried fn and f5 nothing works

There will either be a switch on the side of the machine or it will be fn and one of the funtion keys, look for an image like this:

Access built in owners manual.

If you just want to disable the wireless lan, you can go to the control panel, network connections, and right-click on the wireless connection icon. Click on "Disable". Re-enable it by going to the same place and click on "Enable".
In order for the "Access IBM" button to work you have to have the software installed. You can tell if it's installed by looking on the start menu under programs

Wireless not working, when my laptop is switch on, the wireless will show it is working but when the computer is ready to use, the wireless switch will just go off and I can never detect any wireless...

Most laptops employ a Function key "Fn, F(Sub/superscript in Bold)"

First examine your keyboard looking for keys with symbols or words in a different color, this color should match the color of your function key.

If there are no other colors, then size should be your indicator. Keys like letters may have small numbers near them, this number is your Fn+ That key result.

Look for an icon like a radio tower, and Press and Hold Fun, Fn, F (depending on your situation) and hit that tower key.

You should see a result on the screen.

If this is a Dell Laptop check your QuickSet for "Always enable on battery" under your wireless/power-saving settings.

If you have no Fn key, and no Radio Tower icon in site, visually inspect the sides of the machine for a switch or button.

HP's generally have a button near an LED lens
IBM Dell and others have switches
(none of these are definite, simply a generality)

Lastly, check your BIOS/ Setup Menu for related Wireless/Networking/Communication settings, make sure to enable your wireless, regardless of power saving options.
(F1, F2, Esc, Delete, F12 Depending on the manufacturer )

Good Luck, Let us know what you find.

How to reset to factory setting . i have ibm thinkpad r50e.

Turn your unit off.
then turn it back on.
Watch the display carefully, Press the Blue Access IBM button when you see the message
"To interrupt normal start up, press the blue Access IBM button"
Then double click on "Recover to factory contents"
Follow the instructions on the screen.
When the Recovery process finishes, press enter.
Your computer will start with the pre-installed OS, Drivers and software.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Memory upgrade

Usually there will be 2 screws to remove (these may be hidden via rubber pads, or labels). The appropriate panel will have a RAM "picture" next to it.
