Stuck on emachine screen

Hi,
I have a emachine desktop W3507 purchased two years ago, no longer have warrenty for it and it is stuck on the emachine screen. You cannot do anything to it. I have tried the f11 and f8 keying while starting up but does not work. What iniatially happened was my daughter was experiencing a stuck screen after startup but before desktop and I did the f11 according to the manual and did the good last configuration thing and it worked fine. Now after a week it is stuck on this emachine screen. I would appreciate any help with this as I dont know much about computers nor do I have the money to go out and buy her a new one.
Thanks so much,
Jodie

Thanks but that did not work...it is stuck on the first screen that loads and it is the big e logo with intel logo in the lower left corner, it is a black screen. Any other suggestions?

Ok I took of the panels and removed the watch type battery and left it out for longer than 10 minutes hitting the power button too. I have left the panels off in case there is anything else you want me to do. I also did do a compressed air cleaning, it was dusty. fI have restarted it and still the same thing. Let me know

Ok, you got me stumped on this one. What looks like in the photo is not my battery right? I don't see anything like that in my unit unless its under the big fan or something. I know its difficult when we can't see what the others talking about. If you can give me additional help we can try this one out.

Hi there
Hit F2 on boot up and get into the bios settings, if it lets you in choose default bios settings, save and reboot, see what happens

Good luck

    Hi there
Take the power cord out of the back of the PC, then take the side panel off the desktop. Inside you will see a battery on the motherboard, take that out for around 10 minutes and periodically hit the on/off button, this will drain any remaining power from the unit and should clear the cmos, after 10 mins put the battery back in and plug the cord back in and power the machine up.

    Let me know what happens

    Good luck

Ok, take out the memory modules, clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and clean the memory slots with the compressed air.
If you have more than 1 memory module put them back in one at a time and see if it gets past the logo screen

Ok, disconnect the hard drive from the motherboard and the optical drive, the you will have to look for the CMOS jumper, it looks like this: move the plastic jumper to the other possition and hit the on/off button (make sure the power cord is plugged in this time) if you have the plastic jumper in the right possition the PC will not turn and the cmos will clear, put the jumper back in its original possition and turn on the pc.
Let me know how you get on

    Good luck

Look closely at the motherboard for "CLR_CMOS" it should be near the battery or by the memory slots

On most PC's, shut down your machine, wait a minute or so, power it back up and start tapping the F8 button until you see the prompt for safe mode.

Emachines w 3507 desktop isnt recognizing sdhc card

This PC was made before SDHC was finalized so the built-in media reader will not read SDHC. You will need to purchase an SDHC compatible media card reader device. I've seen them for as little as $3.99 and they just plug in via USB.

I need recovery disk for a emachine w3507

You can purchase recovery software specific for your machine (you will need your computer's serial number) here:

https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=emachines

I believe it is around $20, plus shipping costs.

Hope this helps.

Fan runs fast all the time

Chances are you need a new fan or it could be your motherboard is overheating so the fan continues to run. Fans are pretty cheap.

or

If you have the expertise to do so, try opening up the unit, detaching the fan and reattaching it. Maybe when you used the air blower it caused it to sit improperly.

Restore disks

Does not seem to be one available, art least not from the website.
Have you tried a restore to the earliest date? There is a contact phone number on theire website. Another option is to purchase an Win Xp disk.

Spyware issue? Disconnect your internet connection then try booting from the Windows disc. You may have to go into setup and make the CD/DVD ROM drive the first boot device. It may be that some malware got into your computer over the internet. Your problem could be a hardware or software issue. It is hard to say exactly what is wrong. But it seems that eMachines have their share of problems. You're getting a lot of response for your problem and hopefully someone will hit on the solution.
