Question about Dell 1450 802.11a, 802.11g/b (U7186) Wireless Adapter

Dell Wireless 1450 802.11a/b/g USB 2.0 adapter and Vista

I installed the CD for this program I my laptop using Vista. The Progam Compatibility Assistant found compatibility issues and gave me the options to "ck online for help" "run program" or "cancel".
I chose online but Dell hasn't been able to help.

Next, I tried to uninstall it but the InstallShield Wizard shows an error code -5001.

What do you suggest I do. I would prefer to uninstall first before I do anything else.

Can anybody help?

I cannot uninstall the Wireless 1450 driver can I still install anoter wireless driver?

  • charly08 Jan 10, 2009

you suggest "to reinstall the dell utility driver cd,,,,,came with your system just reinstall that cd"

Is it the the wireless adapter driver cd?

I don't think this adapter is compatible with Vista.

I would rather uninstall the driver but the installshield wont let me.

Check online for helpusually does not work.

You need to run the software as administrator, right clicking on installer file, and then chosing "run as administrator from the dropdown menu.

If that does not work ensure the software is Vista compatible.

I would uninstall the driver completely, then check on www.softpedia.com as there are usually updated drivers on there

the wireless adapter you have sounds like it's not compatable with vista. copy the installation file to your desktop, then right click,go to properties click compatability then set it for xp sp2,click apply.then click ok, then right click and run as administrator

Need driver for dynewx dx-ebusb for Windows 7

Hello,

According to the dynex web site, this adapter is only compatible with Windows vista and earlier. There is no mention of compatibility with Windows 7 however you can try using the software install from the dynex website. Try running the install and if it does not start, try running it in Windows Vista SP 2 compatibility mode.

http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/computers/DX-EBUSB.html

Thanks,

Pat

My main computer is vista, the one with wireless router , but I want to use my xp computer with the dell 1450 wireless usb adapter. it won't work

Dell do not provide support for vista on the 1450 USB adapter - see here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=bsdv&dl=false&docid=20075A1DBD60D650E0401E0A55175C46&doclang=en
I have not tried this - but found on another forum http://www.vistaforums.com/Forum/Topic5380-21-1.aspx olution:
  1. 1) Install the Dell 1450 USB drivers on a PC with XP32 (assuming your target machine is 32-bit)
  2. 2) Copy the "2K" drivers from the install directory ( c:\program files\dell wireless ) to a flash drive.
  3. 3) Copy the "2K" drivers from the flash drive to the Vista machine. After you plug in your 1450 choose to manually select the driver then browse to that folder. You should be up an running in a few seconds.
The extra connection manager software that came with the adapter won't run on Vista but you'll still get a good wireless connection.

Wireless G USB Adapter is not working on windows vistar

Windows 7 (Beta) and Windows Vista 64 Bit. Step 1. Do not allow the autostartup to run the installation application. You must right click on the CD ROM and select the "OPEN" option. Locate the driver on the install CD. Since my DVD ROM drive is my "D:" drive I located the driver at D:\USB_VISTA32364\BACKUP_2WIRE_VISTA_USB_Installer.exe . Before you click on this you want to right click on this and select Properties. In the properties tab click on the middle tab marked "Compatibility". Make sure you select the checkmark box to: Run this program in compatibility mode for: and use the pull down menu to select Windows XP SP2. This is how I was able to get my 2wire utility to work on Windows 7 (beta) 64 Bit.
