Question about Dryers

Dryer will not heat and timer doesn't budge when running

My Roper model REX6634PQ0 will not heat and the timer does not move no matter how long it runs. What do you suggest I check and is this something I can fix myself?

Electric dryer, but I don't think it's the timer. It will run on the perm press and timer works. Heavy cycle is where the dial doesn't move. Still open to suggestions.

    Hi,

I have the same problem with my Roper dryer, same model. It is also electric. It worked fine last night and then this morning I noticed it was running but without heat. Was the heating element easy to take out and replace? Where did you get the replacement part?

    Thanks,

    Lisa

First of all if this is a gas dryer you should have a tecnician fix so you have no gas problems. If not it sound like you definitekly need a new timer, that is why it does not heat up. All of your cintrols run through the time. It lets the machine know when to go on or off and get hotter or cooler depending on what type of cycle you chose. I hope this helps.

the little gear inside the timer may be worn in the heavy duty part of the timer. When you do perm press you are using a different part of the gear system

I have a Whirlpool LER4634PQ1 it was working just fine then all of a sudden the dryer just keeps running the knob on the dryer doesn't move and the air isn't warm. Any suggestions on what to s

there is a cycling thermostat in line with the high limit thermostat and timer circuit,on timed dry its disabled and the timer will run no matter what,on any sensor dry setting it uses the heat of the element to heat this cycling thermostat to move the timer as the clothes get drier as the heating element heats the timer doesn't move, when the heater cycles off from the high limit thermostat then timer moves again, you need to find out if its a bad heating element, thermal fuse or possibly even a circuit breaker in the homes electrical panel tripped out on one of the 2 phases that gives you the 240 volts required to operate the dryer element, the breaker may not show its tripped,so shut it off and back on and try this first

Roper dryer model REX6634PQ0 doesn't heat... suspect heating coils bad, perhaps also fex-vent hose may be clogged... otherwise dryer works, including timer.. done so far.. cleaned vent hose...

Start by unplugging the machine and take it outside if possible.

get the screws out and remove the rear cover

Go ahead and get the front off next so you can remove the blower housing

Take the filter out and a couple screws then grab the back of the control with
your left hand and use a putty knife to release the top on each side

How old is this machine and are the clothes dry and still running.? Is there a moisture sensor on this model ? Does the timer indicator move around the dial, if not timer is bad.

My roper dryer REX6634pq0 does not heat!!

there is a thermal overload switch that activates the heating element. This switch will be located in the area of the element itself. It is designed to shut off the element in the event the element itself reaches a temp beyond it's designed temp. It is a safety device. If the switch is out it will not allow the heating element to activate. This switch looks like a silver button and has several wires going to it is about the size of a dime. Replace this switch and you should be good to go

Roper dryer, timer doesn't time out and not heating up?

Dryer will run forever if it doesnt heat up, Dryer has to heat up and thermostat has to get hot and open to start the timer. Odds are rally great, it is your heating element.
