my food in the bottom drawers and shelves are freezing---so this information about the temp setting is also helpful---I don't have an "owner's manual"--it is a new in 2000 refrig but installed by contractor who didn't leave the manual---I just cleaned the coils underneath in hopes that will help---will see--the previous suggestion to clean out the water drain baffles me as I can see a hole in the back wall mid-way down but how to know if that seems a weird place for a drain

The higher the number, the colder the fridge/freezer. You should just adjust 1 number per 24 hours per the manual instructions.

What dis you want me to see by your video of the control panel? I am here to answer your question once I have the model number All compressors will not start for a few minutes after turning off and then back to normal setting because the Freon pressures must equalize to allow the compressor to restart. Temperature too cold even when on lowest

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Feezer keeps defrosting itself

Try adjusting the thermostat (freezer setting). Crank it from lowest to highest to lowest a few times, and then leave it set on the lowest setting. That may get something unstuck. You could try putting a little light (low viscosity) silicone oil on the working parts of the thermostat. Silicone oil doesn't get thick at low temperatures.
