Question about Superior Lennox Blower Thermal Sensor - BTS

1 Answer

I have a Lennox heating system, last night I came home and my house was cold but I could hear the system running. I went up in the attic and noticed that there was no flames. So I turned everything off for about 5 minutes and then tried to fire up the automatic polite light. It will not fire up at all, the big fan motor will run but that?s it. It?s like the system has no gas to light it up. I tried to do this for about an hour. I even took a lighter to see if there was gas.

Might be cutting out on flame optics. Renew the nozzles (jets) and check the igniter for function.

I have a Lennox elite series furnace. The vents are just blow out cold air, not heat. The theromstat is now working strange. I set the digital theromstat at 75 deg. and then place the thermostat on hold....

You did great! Yes you have a heating system error not a thermostat issue. The 2 blinking lights is an indication something is wrong. Now what you need to do is to remove one of the panels on the heating system and look for a wiring diagram pasted on the reverse. On this diagram there will be a diagnostic chart explaining where to start looking for an issue based on 2 blinks. Because each model is different, a 2 blink error code could indicate a bad pressure switch, plugged air filter or any other thing.

Furnace unit to be louder now than last season

Check your air filter, make sure all registers are open full and there is no restriction in all ducts. Could be an unbalanced fan, clean the squirll cage fan with a brush and vacuum.

Why does my AC keep freezing (Carrier FB4ANF036). I have replaced the blower motor less than a month ago due to the same problem. Just last night we had a lightening storm and shortly after that the AC...

if your system is a heat pump you can switch to heat and see if coil outside gets cold while indoor blows warm air - then switch back to a/c - both coils should not be cold at the same time - low freon pressure / dirty coil / dirty filter / low air flow causes freezing

Unit makes noise, but no air is coming out of vents

check the unit in attic for iced up and outdoor unit you may notice ice on lines or connecting tubing and in attic also-------- if so turn unit off at thermostat and leave fan switch on the thermostat to on while sytem switch is off
should be nothing running but the indoor fan
will have to thaw if it is iced up for a while couple hrs. a guess
you will know when it is thawed as your airflow will begin to come back

check your air filter to be sure it is clean
suggestion only-- keep your house thermostat set at 70 degrees or above
you may have developed a refrigerant leak (freon) which would require a hvac service tech to verify.
if it was iced you can turn all back on and try again once you have good airflow again.
or if your system has not been serviced lately? might be a good time to have it serviced?

I recently bought a 4 ton 14.5 SEER Rudd Spilt system using R-410 and matching Rudd furnace. This system replaced a Lennox 10 SEER 4 ton unit. Now that it has gotten hot in Baton Rouge LA 90-93 degrees....

Sounds like the Unit might be low on charge. But without correct readings not sure.
The new unit with 410 will actually cool better due to higher boiling point temp. of freon type.Poor air circulation could also cause problem.Such as dirty filter, too slow fan speed, dirty coil. Also could have obstruction in freon lines either at pump,in line set,or in coil.
Get someone u trust to check it out and ask for their Rudd Dealership Training Credentials.

Home heating problem

You need to have your ducts balanced. It takes special equipment and expertise. They block some and open some ducts so the air flow is even throughout! You could just partially block or close the vents in the center and you might get more heat in the end of the runs. Also if the ducts are running in unconditioned air, like under the house or in the attic. You could be losing heat by not having insulation on the ducts. Try wrapping them.
Hope that helps.

No gas to fire up the polite light

there could be a few reasons for this but the first thing I would check would be the Thermal couple. If you do not know what that is I would call a qualified tech to come and replace it . they are easy to replace . It is also possible that the main board has shorted out but I would start with the thermal couple first.
