Question about Superior Lennox Blower Thermal Sensor - BTS

1 Answer

I have a Lennox heating system, last night I came home and my house was cold but I could hear the system running. I went up in the attic and noticed that there was no flames. So I turned everything off for about 5 minutes and then tried to fire up the automatic polite light. It will not fire up at all, the big fan motor will run but that?s it. It?s like the system has no gas to light it up. I tried to do this for about an hour. I even took a lighter to see if there was gas.

the part your describing is a thermal coupler and you'll need to go to a heating and ac supply company. some small local hardware stores might have it but never found one at the big stores like home depot.
last resort if its cold where you are call the local gas company and get them to fix it. you'll have to pay for the repair call.

Water is starting to be seen on the pan under the furnace/blower in attic and air pressure is very low comming from the vents to cool. I am thinking there is a clog in the water piping and if that is the...

This usually happens when your system isn't charged right, meaning, over or under charged, or you have a problem with the return air being restricted like the filter being to dirty. Anyways, the coil on the inside of the unit is freezing up which is causing the excess water and the low air flow. First check the filter since thats the cheapest, but it's more than likely the charge of refrigerant thats the problem. Hope this helps.

That is most likely the control transformer - it drops the 240vac to 24vac for the thermostat, and the run contactors. The transformer may have a loose lamination - not a problem, unless you are bothered by the noise.

I am looking for an installation manual for Model FUBSK blower motor kit. We bought a new home and the Lennox Superior wood burning fireplace Model BC-36 has a switch that should force heat out into the...

The fan should be installed behind the bottom grill, and then it should blow air around the firebox which then exits out the top grill. Now saying that, let me explain the actual problem you will face. Because you have a open faced wood fireplace, you will not get the heat your looking for, the fire needs 400 cubic feet of air per hour and that air is taken from your opening. Also the inner box doesn't heat up enuff to produce alot of heat on the skin so if you have the fan blowing full blast, it will only cycle the air and not allow it time to heat up as it cycles around the box. I suggest turning the fan speed down so its 1/2 way on or lower, this allows the air time to heat while cycling around the box, but in the end you still won't have a good heater as the fireplace itself isn't one, you should look at having it converted to direct vent gas or ripping it out and replacing it with a airtight wood.

Lennox Fan will not come on when set to ''auto'' position.

Expensive is relative, service calls are never free. But if you have an idea what the problem is, you are armed against an unethical service company. Now to what you describe, could be a couple things, first let me explain the difference in fan speeds. Furnaces that both heat and cool have multi-speed blower motors. High speed is for cooling and lower speeds are for heating. The fan switch at the T-Stat turns on the high speed fan relay. The lower speed fan is turned on by either a temperature activated switch (silver box mounted on front on furnace above burners) or a time delay relay which is solid state. That being said, your problem could be a defective fan switch or one of your blower motor windings has gone bad. Most motors have 3 or 4 speeds and a technician could just change speeds and all would be good. A fan/limit switch is not so expensive that you would replace the unit. Bottom line, unless your really handy, a heating company is in your future. Good luck and please rate my answer if it was helpful to you.

Heating unit hums when the fan comes on

The fan has run out of grease and vibrates. May need to change fans. If it's in the power suppy you could get a new one. Greasing fans manually is bad because it doesn't last and if you do it wrong you will get grease everywhere when you turn on the computer and break the computer. also DO NOT open the power suppy as it can electrocute you even if not plugged in as it stores some electricity.
