FSX = ****!

It sounds like a RAM issue. FSX needs a minimum of a dual core processor, a good quality graphics card (512Mb min) and 4Mb ram. The "not responding" is caused by the PC having to try to get a large amount of data into a small amount of ram, or the processor is struggling to cope.

I HAVE 4 PS212 AND FROM WHAT YOU ARE DISCRIBING SOUNDS SIMILIAR TO WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. PLAYING THE SUB AT FULL VOLUME AND CLIPPING OCCURED NOT KNOWING THAT THE FAINT SMELL WAS THE VOICE COIL BURNING AND CONTINUING TO PLAY UNTIL KNOW SOUND LESSON LEARNED BUY A BIGGER SUB SYSTEM OR REPLACE YOUR SUB WOOFER.
IN MY OPPINION THIS IS A VERY GOOD PRODUCT WHICH I HAVE BEEN ABUSEING FOR MONTHS . SO QUIT WHINEING AND PAY YOUR DUES.

Problem with FSX Demo setup

You need to find the directory where it has installed, usually in C:\program files\Microsoft games\FSX and then locate the .exe file. Right-click the mouse over this icon, holding the right button down, drag the icaon onto the desktop, release the mouse button and when teh small menu appears choose "create shortcut here" option.

Then you can start the program using the new icon on your desktop. As for playing it, you need to read the manual as it would take too long here to explain it. Good luck

I just bought 2 JVC CS-DX30 12" car speakers. What kind of box am I supposed to get sealed? vented? ported?

You can put these in either a sealed or ported enclosure, not vented. Your box choice depends on what kind of bass you are looking for and the power of the amp you use to drive them.

A sealed box will give you more accurate bass reproduction but will require more power for a given volume. A ported box will be louder at the expense of sounding somewhat "boomy". You should really listen a pair of 12"s in each type of box before you make your decision. Some people don't like the sound of ported enclosures, others love it.

I'd recommend one of the enclosures here:

Blown subwoofer

1400 is PEAK power. not to be mistaken with RMS. 1400W in SHORT bursts.
RMS on them is 500-600W.
Your amplifier gain may be improperly set. How big is the enclosure and what amplifier are you using. All of these things will play a factor in answering your question. Dont expect a $400 experience from $100 subs.
