My garmin forerunner 405 crashes when I take it out of powersaver mode
I have tried resetting it by holding in the two buttons for 10 seconds. It resets fine and works OK, I can scroll through all of the menus and everything seems fine until it goes into powersave mode.To bring it out of powersave mode I press the top button, there is no beep as usual, the time is work, the numbers go dim and nothing works. I have connected it to my computer and have been told that the software is up to date.

To master reset your Garmin 910xt you first have to turn it off using the power button. then press and hold in the mode and enter buttons, while still holding the mode and enter buttons press and release the power button. After letting go of the power button you can release the mode and enter buttons. You will know that it worked if it powers on and starts the set up wizard. If it doesn't you should try these steps again. Just know that a master reset will erase all the data on your device.
Try SW reset. Hold Mode and lap/reset for 10 seconds, then release and long press start until device restarts. Should clean up default.
If not try hard reset, but you'll loose all data in device. hold mode and start for ten second, device needs to off before. Then keeping these, pulse press lap/reset. You'll get a confirmation screen
Your device is crashed. Perform soft reset : press & hold mode plus lap/reset keys for 10 seconds, release then press start long enough until device starts.
Device is probably crashed. Try Soft reset first, if it does not recover in fair state then perform hard reset, that return device to factory settings
Soft reset : Press mode and lap/reset for 10 seconds, then release, then press start for 10 seconds, and plugg device on PC when started, it will start, and charge then.
Hard reset : device must be off, Press mode and Start buttons together for 10 seconds, then (without releasing these) pulse press lap/reset button, you'll get a request for confirmation to go back to factory settings. You'll loose all data, but device should be back in stable state.
In regards to the locked up Garmin: Press and hold BOTH side buttons at the same time until the unit goes blank. Once released, it should be reset...... This should not remove any history or settings.
If Forerunner is locked up, reset your Forerunner. Press and hold enter and quit
simultaneously until screem goes blank (7 - 10 seconds). This does not
erase any of data or settings
I had exactly the same problem. i looked through this site and found some advice that said to hold both buttons (quit/enter) for 7-10 seconds, which resets, but apparently doesn't wipe your info - happy days :)
Make sure you have the latest ANT version.
Remove the pending firmwire program that wants to be transfered to the forerunner. (right-click + select delete)
Reset the watch (hold both buttons for 6 seconds, lift upper button, hold lower botton for another 3 seconds)
Then start all over again.
This fixed the problem for me.
I have had the same problem. To fix it, I simultaneously hold down the "mode" and "reset" buttons for about 10 seconds. After releasing the buttons I power it up as normal. This has worked both times it has happened, and I got this fix from the Garmin website. My mileage totals are still in the history.
