Problem for Toshiba Sony DNS707F Personal CD Player

SONY CD Walkman D-NS707F Window displays "HOLD"

When 'on' button is depressed, "HOLD" is displayed and flashes. Device won't work, changed batteries and tried other buttons.

Please help!
