PC Freezing constantly

I have installed the free version of AVG 8 antivirus but recently my PC freezes or I receive the following error message = '' avgwdsvc.exe - Application Error ''. The prompt advises me that ''The instruction at 0x781473ed referenced memory at ''0x008fd000''. The memory could not be ''read''. I have reistalled the program 4 times but it will still not update its database from the AVG server

Run the defrag on your hard drive then a test for errors on it.Let it fix any erors found as it runs . Then try to reinstall the antivirus software. If the defrag or the fix disk software keep going on and on and on then the hard drive is shot.

Yes the hard drive is gone. You can get clone software that may work to copy everythng on the hard drive to transfer to the new one but it you have all of the install disks or backup CD ,I believe it is better to do that. Newegg.com is a reasonable cost website to purchase a hard drive from.  You need to know what typ e of hard drive that you
have. For exampple  either IDE-ATA or S-ATA are the two most common types. If you need the manual for you computer and don't know how or wnere to download one from,  just give me the make and model  or make and modle of the mother board if a plain no-name PC and I will link the the web address for you.

Hi,

Download Malwarebytes from the link that i have provided below and install the free version and run it that will clear the system of viruses and malware.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Next you want an antivirus which is reliable and doesn't take over the system. Download AVG Free from the next link below and install it.

Try to download and install AVG Free at http://free.avg.com/us-en/download.prd-afg. Very good free anti-virus. Note they do have a paid version as well, but usually the free version is good enough.

I also recommend downloading and installing spybot from download.com. Its very good at identifying and removing spyware. You will need to run it monthly.

make sure you have removed all other antivirus software before installing AVG (or any other antivirus software)

try to uninstall AVG, then restart and install it again

There is a known issue between AVG 8 and Anniversary Edition of Ad-Aware which gives exactly this error, so if you perhaps just got that ad-aware, uninstall it too before trying to reinstall AVG.

Then run the uninstall/cleanup util for Avast because the Windows Add/Remove isn't good for uninstalling antivirus programs. Then try reinstalling it again. If you downloaded the installation package, then it provides the uninstall option. Disable Ad-Aware's Adwatch first! Run the AVG installer. Choose the uninstall option and follow the wizard. When you get to the part to remove user settings, select it. Restart your computer then... Now reinstall AVG using the setup file you got and update it.
Restart Windows twice before you re-enable anything disabled earlier.

Should this not work and you get the same error, that means the original errornous installation is still not out of your system. Download the AVG remover from here:
http://www.avg.com/download-tools
Remove your AVG and reboot to make sure it is not there any more, and try installing again.

Let me know if the solution worked and if yes please rate me:)

Your problem is likely related to a bad update from Kaspersky - it happens once in a while and will likely be fixed on their next update.
