Question about Toshiba Satellite 5005-S504 Notebook

1 Answer

Does not try to book

I have a Toshiba Satellite 5005-S504 and it worked fine till this week. When I try to boot it, it does not even try to access the hard drive. Only the power, connected to power and CD indicators are lid in the front when I push the power button. I cannot open the CD drive.

It seems that the laptop is in some kind of weird mode.

This happend after my 21 month old daughter pushed enthusiastically the buttons on the front.

Is my laptop dead or does anybody have any idea how to make this thing work again?

In my desperation to get this computer running again (against my best judgment I did not make a backup of this laptop in months) I force opened the CD drive with a paper clip and put a music CD in the drive to see what it does then. I tried the buttons in the front as I thought I might get the CD to play … nothing. I tried the power button and the computer booted. Why? I have no idea. As mysterious as it stopped working it started working again. I hope this will help someone else who has some strange things happen with their 5005. Good luck!

Well friend, first that quite I recommend to you to remove the external battery and to try to use only the AC Adapter, in some occasions and when the Battery Pack becomes exhausted the equipment it tends to be blocked, reason for which I invite you that alone you try with the feeding source, in this case the equipment be able to operate without problem, then if everything is OK turn off and place again the battery packaging.

Getting memory error on front display immediately on power up

It is surely indicating issue with the memory.
Can try to reseat the memory (remove from slot and reinsert again) make sure to wipe the contact with soft tissue.

Toshiba satellite 5005-S504 Secure Digital Card Slot problem

Hi there
Take a close look inside the card slot (you may need a torch/flashlight) look to see if any of the brass pins are bent or out of position, if they are use a very small flat head screwdriver to gently push them back into place.
If all looks fine with the slot and there are no foreign objects inside your card maybe faulty.
Also i suggest the you check the drivers are installed, check this in device manager.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Changing BIOS priority on toshiba satelite 5005-s504

as i recall, ntloader is software for the OS load, after hardware boot, so you already passed up your chance to enter bios, which you realize. i used to have a toshiba laptop, was it the delete key or F2 to enter BIOS? try delete, and make sure youre pressing it from restart like once a second as it's booting to make sure you hit it in the windows of time it's looking for key presses before it's time to load the operating system. you'll be fine. it's just unnerving to be locked out like that...
