Going thru batteries

I have a zMate MP3 player, acutally it is pictured as you come into Dane-Elec on FixYa the little white one. A battery only last maybe 2 hours tops. I have tried all brands nothing will last. I need the instructions for this player, I am wondering maybe if possibly I am not turning it off properly. Thank you

How I got my zmate mp3 to work. First use a fresh right out of the package alkaline battery (buy a multi pack it eats them like fritos). Next plug in USB cord to computer. Make two subdirectory's in zmate mp3 ("Voice" should have been preinstalled). I called my second one "Audio". Copy MP3 files to audio until full. Right click on audio and select propertys. Turn off "read only" both on the directory and files within. Unhook USB cord from unit. Press and hold middle play button.
Red light flashes, Green light stays lit (this is on). Press and release, Green light flashes once per second (this is play). Press once while green light flashes for pause. Press and hold for off. Right and left button press once for skip, press and hold for fast forward or reverse.

No zMate Pen driver is necessary to work out with Windows Millenium, Windows 2000, Windows XP and MAC OS 9.1 and more: they are plug and play.
but try this site:

Here's a link to the drivers from that companies website, you might try them.

This also may be a problem with USB versions too. I have a 4GB Deisel USB drive and it will not work on any USB 1 devices.

Zmate mp3 player confusing

The A-B music is the repeat button.

Press the first time and you set the start point. Press it again later in the music and you set the end point and for that time on the player just plays from start point to end point and repeat it again. To remove the repaet option just press the A-B button once again. The lock button is to lock all the control buttons so that you don't accidentally press then while in the pocket. To put the music is no secret just insert the mini-usb cable in the zMATE and the computer and it should detect it as a usb drive in the next available drive letter. (if you have a network drive letter in the next available letter it will not appear and you must change the letter in the manage computer system, of course this is for windows systems)

Check Battery is akaline or better and fresh. Try new ones from different packs. Brand new batteries can be bad. For further steps see my post on Zmate MP3.

Zmate mp3 not recognised

Try a different cord, USB port, and bypass any splitters if used. Then try another USB support driver in Device manager.

Dane Elec ZMate MP3 Player wont play!!

Make sure if it's the player that uses SD cards, the songs can't be in the root.  They must be in a sub-folder (subdirectory), preferably one named AUDIO.
