i know this may sound dumb but did you check the cd for scratches or fingerprints?
is this a cd that you burned from the computer? if so is it the correct type and in the correct format.. Sometimes when burning cd's on the computer depending on what software you are using if the bitrate is set to high (above 128Kbps) then the cd will not play on normal cd player Also when burning cds on the computer the session must be closed completely before it can be played on a regular cd player
Try a brand new store bought type cd and see if it works if it still does not play then it is possible that the laser has somehow become "out of alignment" and that is too difficult to fix and better to be replaced
But by your description it sounds more like the cd is dirty or scratched
It is also possible that the stereo is wore out or malfunctioning
are they store bought CDs ? or are they copies? cause some players unless stated will not play MP3 or MP4 cds, or CDRs , CDRW Etc.... check if the Cds are burned copies, and then also check the music layout if copied, using the computer, see if they are mp3 files that should play if they are mp4 then the cd will act blank....hope this helps...
The player is recognizing that a CD has been inserted but is not able to read it.
Sometimes the lens assembly becomes contaminated and obscures the laser. I'd try using a commercial "lens cleaning CD" two or three times and then try a CD again. These lens cleaning CD's are widely available. If cleaning does not help, the player need professional service.
It sounds like it is attempting to read the t.o.c. (table of contents) which tell the unit where everything is on the cd,and failing to do so, then ejecting, the first thing to do is try cleaning the lens and if there is no change then replace the laser pickup
