Question about RCA F32632SB 32" TV

2 Answers

Have you ever had this problem?

I there a service mode for RCA 32V430T 32? The screen looks like an hourglass. Could this be a pincushion chip or adjustment? The TV is about 2 years old and while I dont want to spend alot of time fixing it I am not crazy about trashing it without trying. Thanks. 1997 RCA ColorTrak Plus F32632SB the picture just changed to an hour glass figure. How do I fix this? Thanks.

All of the sudden the picture on our circa 1996 RCA F32632SB 32" TV changed to an hourglass shape. We are trying to decide how to fix this problem and if it is even worth the money to fix. Thanks for the advice.

Sorry Ginko, but a convergence problem would have the curves down from the top and up from the bottom. The hourglass shape is a pincushion problem. This can be as simple as a bad capacitor in the pincushion circuit.

Could you please confirm the model number so I can look up the probable part?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi there "The screen looks like an hourglass" , that means that you have a convergence problem.

Usually that happens because one of the convergence ICS had failed.

How do I remove the "component" display on the top

You will need the remote control. On an RCA remote you press the info button. If you are using another brand universal remote and it is fully integrated with this television you might find a display button to press to remove component from the screen.

Replace the Horizontal Output transistor and High-Voltage Transformer.
Set will come on, if it goes back off, solder around the switch mode power supply even if it looks good.

too dangerous for a home repair as this requires replacement high voltage components and adjusting the set with the back off while running.
Take to repair store.

Hi, It sounds like your TV has a Pincushion problem based on your post/description. There is a big chance that this is just a colder solder/loose connection but of course an on-site diagnosis would be better. Since this involve opening the unit and working on the electronics inside, I would suggest that you seek the services of a qualified TV professional.

Generally, pincushion may be driven by a chip or IC,but pin out is normally a durable xistor. Servicer adjustments are minor for pin correction.Go to pin out circuit & measure voltages.Get back to me on your findings.
