Question about Acer Aspire X1200 Desktop PC - Athlon X2 Dual Core 2.5GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320GB, DVDRW, V ...
I purchased an ACER ASPIRE X1200 U1640A from Office Depot on Black Friday. I am trying to insert a mini DVD-R disc into the disk drive, and it keeps falling out. I have to lean the PC tower to it's left, so it can read the disc with the help of gravity. I tried to get help from ACER, and they said: "The optical drive of your system does not support a mini DVD-R disc that is why it does not fit in the optical drive of your computer." Like I said, I can get the PC to read the disc just fine if I lean the PC to it's left and hold it there. I don't think that is the way it is supposed to work. All I am trying to do is download my home movies to my new PC so I can edit them from my mini DVD-R disc's.
I've had a look at the Acer Aspire X1200 in a photo and it seems to stand upright with the dvd drive coming out sideways. There is no real groove on the inside of the disc tray to keep the mini DVD-R disc held in place. There may be a way to remove the stand that holds it upright. Then turn it on the side that you lean it on. That would be the way it would have to sit permenantly by the looks of it. If the stand doesn't come off then I'd suggest just turning it on it's side anyway, not ideal but it will read the disk. I dont think there is anything else you could do to make it read the disc whilst standing up, I'm afraid.

I also have an X1200 desktop, and encountered the same thing. Since they just put a regular optical drive on it's side, mini discs fall out, but the drive has small lips that can hold a regular disc without a problem. As mentioned previously, there is no solution other than turning the computer on it's side. (this is one of the quirks of owning a mini desktop)
