From experience, a protection circuit has cut in, most likely due to a short in one of the DC output voltage rails on the PSU, thus giving the result of red standby LED, then green, then back to red. If the standby LED is not flashing/blinking, chances are you won't see any error codes.
This unit consists of several surface-mounted components, transistors, diodes, capacitors and resistors (many of which are miniature and often glued to the PCB) - this could become very costly, just in replacing modules as opposed to individual parts and spending hours fault-tracing looking for the problem which could cost a lot more in terms of labour.

I would recommend that you get a second opinion - take it to a service centre, obtain a quote for the estimated cost of repair (and fault diagnosis at the same time) - then you can make a decision after that.

It's up to you but before spending ANY money on it, throwing it out, or selling it somewhere as is, or whatever, get that second opinion from an authorized service workshop first. See how you go. *Nothing is impossible to fix, some things are complex.*

I got an Onkyo amp- TX-SR674, don't know why i turn on it but after 2 seconds, it will switch off and standby light is flashing, can many times. Please help

If the stand by red light starts blinking after 4 seconds of switching On it indicates an output short circuit. In all probability one of the Amplifiers output stage is defective and to prevent speaker damage the protection circuit is getting activated in 4 seconds. You will need professional help to fix this.

When pluged in the On/Standby LED will light. When pressing power the On/Standby LED with flash then go solid but nothing apears on the display. I can select what speakrs to use (A or B). All the LED's...

Most likely the unit does not receive power from main transformer. Possible several reasons:
- bad power transformer
- bad main internal fuse 7-8amp. Bad fuse most likely because of one of the channel is blown and shorts the power, so before installing new fuse good idea to check all channels by meter or at least visually for burned parts
- bad power relay
- bad connection, cracked soldering joints

Hi, Rx-v559 power button doesnt power up amp. +5v stb is active... whats the most likely problem?

If the power relay clicks. It may need the main power transformer. Primary of the transformer should be almost a short, if it is open-it's bad.
If no relay click. It could be main micro, stand by relay or the transistor that switches the relay on.

Hi All, I have Panasonic SC - VK 540 music system. It has gone to the authorized service station several times for the above mentioned error. But unfortunately they have not bee able to fix the problem....

The fault seems to be a main board issue in which the relay is clicking but not activating.
SInce you are not aware of the work done earlier it must be seen if this was a reset issue. so power off and try to reset- refer you manual in thelast column for reset in case of errors...may be holding the menu/selecctor while switching on.
You can also see if there is any dry points in the main board,a loose connector or a connection . press and reset all connections

Had a similar problem. Relay clunked and I got the indication from the stand-by LED but no furter responce form the unit. After some trouble shooting and measuring diffrent components I found the voltage limiting resistor R921 to be bad. 0,47kOhm 1/2 W. Due to miss-colored circiut board this has been owerheating for long time...

AVR-485 Quit working

I just bought this machine...and had earlier seen your post. I was looking at the "microprocessor re-initialization" part and thought, hey, it may be worth a try for you.

So, consider re-initializing (resetting) the machine. This can be done by:

1) Turn off the unit using the *main* power switch
2) While holding both Speaker A and B button, turn on the machine using the *main* power switch
3) You should see the main display flash at 1 sec intervals. Let go of the speaker buttons to finish.

Hope it helps,

Eddie V.

Onkyo tx-ds676 dead no power up

power down the amp totally to reset processor, then try again. If still no go, may have blown internal fuses- replace and try again
.... or failed thermal fuse in mains transformer. this is a workshop repair as it involves mains voltage that can kill :)

This seems to be continuin problem with those. Not sure of exact fix yet, but believe it is just a fuse or bulb that needs replaced.
