Dial gets stuck on Frigidaire FDB740RCS0

The problem is that the dial gets stuck, and has to be manually advanced, in the same 2 positions every cycle. The first stoppage occurs very near the midpoint between Light Wash and Drying on the dial. According to the cycle chart it would appear that this falls between the 2nd wash and 3rd rinse or about 25mins. into a Light wash. The second stoppage occurs right on or just before the drying cycle starts or, according to the cycle chart, about 47mins. into a Light wash. My parents have the same dishwasher, so I tried switching the control panel, only to find the exact same problem at the exact same points. So I don't think its the timer, and don't know what else it might be. If you could give me any guidance I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in Advance,
John

I had the same problem with mine. I turned the heated dry off and it works fine.

Try turning off the high temp wash. I had a similar problem and found that the thermostat is bad. Turning off the high temp wash bypasses the high temp thermostat.

Hi,

I know that you are going to think that this is dumb... but the only thing that it can really be is the timer....

I think that the extra tripper that it needs to activate with the heat is stalling it...

Cycle dial doesn't advance automatically anymore. I saw some listed problems that sounded similar, but not exact. Washer will work in all cycles, but only when I watch and move the dial manually.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Its seems that the Timer is stuck, as everything else is working fine in the unit and the dial ust gets stuck and so won't complete the cycle so the problem is with the Timer motor going bad and needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Whirlpool mo 110753790 It gets stuck in the wash cycle & will not move unless you move the dial. This happens while the heat light is on & light will not go off which causes the dial to be stuck....

Timer behind dial is defective if it will not advance on it's own. Either continue to advance past the defective section of replace it.

Dishwasher stalls

If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle
Timer
Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

I had the same problem. Turn the HIGH TEMP buttons off. Simply turning them off corrected this problem for me. Mine got stuck in two places and I had to manually turn the dials or the washer would run all night.

the motor stops and runs in the opposite direction to pump water up to the top rack. you first need to listen for the motor to stop and start. if you hear that open the door and try to tell if water was coming out of the top spray arm.

My Kenmore diswasher gets stuck between the quick rinse and drying cycle

I am having the same issue as described above. I think it is either the timer, thermostat (temp assure), or thermostat (temp boost) that needs replacing. The dial gets stucks in both the wash temp boost cycle and rinse temp boost cycle. However, I don't have a picture of the temp assure or boost part. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks. -Bill
